You know there's been an almighty c*ck up when even the right wing brigade are supporting strikes. Thats because we can admit when wrong is being done, ulike the lefty guardianistas who would argue black was white.

Morning Star is too right wing for me. Probably infiltrated by Neo Nazi establishment types. I prefer the Daily North Islington Independent Free Peoples Paper For The People.

Find out what left wing publications are on sale at Epsom. Bert The Head is the leftyist leftleaning left thing I've ever encountered!

My daughter is a 4th year medical student and I can confirm this new contract is a crock of dogsh*t and Jeremy C*nt is a tw*t of the highest order. 1000% behind this strike.

I agree Doctors wouldn't strike without good cause, they save lives and pay and conditions should be whatever necessary. Unlike tube drivers who can go f*** themselves Scrapping by on £50K+ pa, 35 hour week, 7 weeks holiday(allegedly) - got to have sympathy with them!

A doctor acquaintance justified the juniors' low pay and tough conditions on the grounds that they're working their way up, and that some of the most successful surgeons have wrecked their marriages for their careers. People work for nothing for years to get in to fashion or the media. No one would say they're important, but there are plenty campaigning to ban internships. On the other hand Tube drivers use the fact that they keep the City running as leverage for their raises, and raise health and safety concerns to restrict their hours. They're at risk of killing hundreds of people while a tired doctor is at risk of not saving one. Without laying down each occupation's salary, hours and incorporating some sort of weighting based on 'importance' I've no idea how people decide who is entitled to strike other than on some sort of honourability factor. It seems to me that the junior doctors are among the worst off, but certain parties have been too busy defending striking teachers, and the Tube drivers before them, and anyone else serving the public, to notice. Now these young doctors who have always accepted the demands of the profession and just got on with it have seen that they're (probably rightly) due a bit of a better deal.

If public sector pay was capped at £100K it'd free up a hell of a lot of money to increase wages for low paid doctors and nurses.
Optimistic as ever |

This article seems to go in to a lot of detail on the figures.
