What would be nice in the campaign is some form of unbiased, rhetoric free and put in layman's terms detail of the pros and cons of staying or leaving. No one can look into crystal balls and predict the future. It comes down to how you see this nation and its place in the world allied with how you think the EU is going.

Back then the EU was referred to as the "Common Market" and was presented as a trading club between the richer northern countries of Europe. If any of us were told it was going to be a political union (or federal state) with us subsidising the smaller countries and being made to adhere to unworkable laws dictated from undemocratically-elected bureaucrats in Brussels.... none of us would have voted for it. The UK was a much different place back in 1975. For me it hasn't changed for the better.

Says ex-PM John Major
His endorsement of the campaign to stay in the EU together with Blair and Brown is pretty much my confirmation to vote to get out. I'm ashamed that Major was a Conservative - he has to be one of the worst PM's in my living history!

Brussels are the 'Head Office' and we are purely 'a branch'. We voted for it, don't you remember

So let's not re-write history and say that the F word did not exist pre-Maastricht. Federalism was already an issue in 1975, at least at primary school level. We still voted in favour, by the way.

Wrong, I'm afraid. I'm left leaning and I know the all-out socialists are already (and increasingly) anti-EU. That is mainly to do with that the free (pan-European) market is allowing corporations to profit at the expense of the average worker. Which is true, to some extent. The Blairite neo-liberals you can say that about. But the socialists, not so much.
