I think I would have pointed out people with no teeth can't complain.

Although very callous there has been an explosion of type 2 diabetes in this country mainly because of obesity which now accounts for 10% of the entire NHS budget. When you consider we can't afford medicine for most cancer patients you have to ask what is fair? I think I would rather adopt a European style system where you need some form of medical insurance and higher risk groups such as fat b******s would pay more

She had to go into hospital because of an unrelated problem, then complications developed during her stay, tragically they finished up amputating both legs. Absolutely terrible to even think about it and I know it's inconsequential really but it must of cost the NHS £1000's.

I'm not sure that it's type 2 diabetes per se that is a drain on the NHS as I don't think that the cost of medication is that great. The great cost arises from people with type 2 diabetes that cannot or will not lose weight which eventually gives rise to the sort of complications that will cost the NHS I have type 2 but don't consider myself to be overweight. A few years ago I was stuck in the Canary Islands during the Iceland ash clouds and due to the enforced extra stay I ran out of Metformin. Fortunately it's available over the counter there and a month's supply of far larger and stronger pills than I take cost me 5 Euros at the local pharmacist and I assume that there was profit built in for him in that sum so I guess that the NHS buy the drug for peanuts

It's a form of abuse and unacceptable but this is the same as the larger woman who got a rejection email after her Tinder date. She's not hideous and therefore this seems a bit unjust. There are people who genuinely provoke disgust from reasonable members of the public and the reaction were this story about one of them would be a quick giggle before moving on to another webpage. The sad thing is, if this had been directed at someone morbidly obese, they'd likely blame the incident for never leaving the house again.

No one is a drain on the NHS. Its there to take care of all citizens. We contribute directly, so that it is. Some may need it, or use it more than others, and that is one of the things that seperates us from other nations, that we make that necessity and need available directly to the people who need it. Those who feel the need to humiliate or bully others, do so because of their own failure as a human being, and ironically are the ones most in need of shaming.

Plus of course their pension burden is much lower. So in truth, I'd say the opposite is true, healthy people with a long life expectancy really cost the NHS far more, than those with a unhealthy habits. The myth is that obesity can be combatted solely by exercise, if its a problem maybe we should look to dealing with the problem at the point of provision. Fast food and packaged foods, and their availability - Notably sugar, a central nervous stimulant that is incredibly addictive.

Has anyone considered the impact on the environment of cutting down more trees to make bigger coffins? I thought not.
