I have watched a few Championship games this season and there is no doubt the standard is extremely poor. The gulf between leagues is huge. I have no doubt at all in my mind that the current BHA squad would finish rock bottom on next to no points if they came up, same with any of the other clubs I've seen (Birmingham looked ok against Aston Villa and might be an exception from the teams I've seen). That'd be grand, if they came up then got relegated with a record low points. My concerns is that they seem to be the sort of team that has an infinite pot of cash, so they wouldn't try to survive with their current squad.

It's a different paradigm now with the TV money.

They have the infrastructure - so the money can go straight into the playing staff - we are still working on ours(thus potentially diverting funds away from the playing side of things) although we seem to have bucked that trend this season- a calculated gamble to stay in this division?

Well yes, I imagine it'd help fund them if they wanted to go on a big spending spree and therefore I wouldn't like to predict how well they'd get on. If I am honest, I can see them coming up and staying up. I'd hate it, but I would not rule it out. In the meantime I am sat at work listening to my colleagues crowing about how well they are doing and I feel a little bit sick.

Unbeaten after 12 games, top after 12 games and already 7 points clear of Debby in 7th place. To not be promoted after such a start to the season would take one mother of all feck ups. It could be glorious to see.

They need promotion to survive and start to pay off the debt to their owner. If they do get promoted, my bet would be on them having some of the most expensive tickets in the country with prices to rival Chelsea and Arse.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

7 points clear at this early stage of the season is nothing. Notice the big boys are starting to Que up behind (No pun intended ) Derby,Middlesbrough, etc will there at the end also Brim are doing well. And think they have had relatively easy start to season. I Predict a mid table finish for the scrum !!!!

If Charlton were anything to go by, the standard in the Championship looks poor this season.

Weed have had a very good start, but there's hope that the wheels will come off at some point.

as much as we hate them, you've got to give it to them! they have played well and reading will soon put them in their place

Reading?

Not a good result v Fulham.

Derby are putting a run together.

And Reading were 2-0 up at Fulham.
Derby have won 4 of their last 5 games drawing the other one, 0-0 at Blackburn.

Talking to one of the guys that works in the local barbers (who is an avid Brighton fan, I really shouldn't be talking to him!) he reckons they are due a hammering soon. Unusual thing for him to say as he's quite a biased fan usually. Said they played badly against Bristol City (despite the win) and were a bit unconvincing against Preston who are down near the bottom as well.

However, to get promoted you need to get results even when you are playing badly and so far I'd say that is exactly what they have done. All the time they have a points cushion they are going to look good, and in my opinion if they don't lose one of the next few games then you'd be mad to bet against them. However, I'd also like to think that one bad result soon and they might just dribble back down the toilet they came from.

Also, as said above, Reading melted at the weekend, Middlesbrough have lacked consistency, Birmingham had been playing well but blew it against a strong Hull team....where will the challenge come from if BHA are the only consistent team?

Hull have only lost 1 of their last 9 games, in fact they have won 3 of the last 4 so they are going well.

Yeah, they probably are one of the stronger teams. Always exciting for a follower of non-league football to see Greg Luer on their bench as well

I saw Greg Luer play for Burgess Hill Town just before his transfer to Hull.

Also not that long ago another Sussex Player, Charlie Walker moved from Peacehaven & Telscombe to Luton.I also recall see him playing.Walker had a handful of games for Luton but is now at Aldershot.
