Perhaps a slight readjustment in expenditure priorities might help.
For starters how about NOT spending millions of investigating crimes committed overseas several years ago which they have little or not hope of solving anyway (the McCann saga), or

NOT spending millions chasing up 50 year old accusations of 'bottom pinching' type sexual offenses (Dave Lee Travis, Freddie Starr et al), that would save a few more millions - and let's be honest here - since he was already dead and beyond punishment, what actual benefit was gained by all the Jimmy Savile enquiries? Ah yes, it gave us the further investigations into all these politicians allegedly 'murdering' kids which is all based on one man's dodgy testimony and now looks like it will go nowhere too.......

Then we have all the 'social' crimes against specific groups- the looking at someone in the wrong tone of voice sort of crime....

meanwhile you can be burgled, beaten up, mowed down, and driven to suicide by threats from the yob next door and the police might send someone round next Tuesday.........

Oh yes, and how many officers would it have paid for if we hadn't kept a 24/7 presence outside the 'whatever' embassy for 'however' many years?

Crime the lowest since records began.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Prisons the fullest since records began.

Some crimes are historically low and other types not so. There will, obviously, be another sharp drop when either Jaime or Cucking depart.

Crime the lowest since records began.

Anyone who genuinely believes that is not living in the real world where the tinkering and massaging of figures is rife.

Knife crime is up 24% for a start.

Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians.

Get rid of all the various Police Authorities and have them all under one roof.

At a stroke, a load of senior officers will be cut from the payroll and we will have a national consensus on policing rather than a fragmented approach like now. There might even be savings by amalgamating control rooms across the country.

I agree about scaling down vehicles to cut costs too.

Sorry to say it Kenny, but your pensions still need scaling back to match those in the private sector.

Times are hard.

I get that Hoof. I'm realistic enough to know that when times are tough we all have to give up a little.. the new pension scheme has very little effect on those that joined from 2006 onwards under the 2006 scheme but for those of us on the 1987 pension scheme we have well and truly had the rug pulled from underneath us.

I signed up for 30 years with a certain pension. I get 15 years in and then told I now have to do another 24 years and get 50 grand less than I was told at the start. That's a bitter pill to swallow. It's not about whether our pensions were better than others.. it's about being promised something then having it taken away from you. And it's knowing there's nothing we can do about it as we can't strike.

Anyways as soon as the redundancy package gets offered I'll be outta there. Already have something else lined up.

I guess crime must be way down that we do not need all these police officers any longer.

Not really, it's just that crime changes, with 5m fraud cases last year.
