Girls fighting over a bloke, apparently. I guess it's not called Hoe Street for nothing. And there was me thinking it was high immigration levels that were preventing a cohesive society. When you've already go a sh1t sandwich, why not make it a triple decker, eh? Eat up, Syd.

"Do you think immigration should be limited in any way? If so, why?"

There seemed to be a nasty undercurrent... the only bloke attacked by the group of youths was the Jewish chap, totally unprovoked... draw your own conclusions. Anyway he is fine, luckily (his words not mine) the guy that punched him, punches like a girl.

"Do you think immigration should be limited in any way? If so, why?" Yeah sorry. Been on a plane most of the day but you're right. I'll get back to it. Short answer though is clearly "yes." Uncontrolled anything is rarely a good idea, immigration or chocolate cake (and that is not to be dismissive, either.) But like all the best laid plans of mice and men it's how you determine the limits and then how you apply them that matter as much as the fact of limits themselves. All I could say superficially is that things like available jobs, available housing, available resources (healthcare, etc.) would all have to be counterbalanced with the undoubted benefits of immigration to determine an appropriate set of rules, a subject in which I am no expert so it's hard to go beyond the answer I've already given (in other words, yes I agree with limits but personally, I can't give you an answer off the cuff with regard to what those limits should be.) I think history pretty much dictates that unfettered anything doesn't usually result in widespread benefits, but shutting the borders is no more the answer either. To be honest, your question is not a difficult one to answer. Did you expect me to say something else?

I'm glad to hear that you agree that immigration has an adverse effect on "available jobs, available housing, available resources (healthcare, etc.)". You forgot low wages and community tensions too. Still hope for you yet as you want immigration controlled - as does jamiemartin. All you guys need to do now is to start supporting policies like EU withdrawal that will start to sort things out. (Perhaps for completeness you could run through the "undoubted benefits of immigration".)

Completeness does indeed involve pointing out the good and the bad. I too think we should reign in immigration but I'm not blind to the fact that immigrants have set up half a million businesses employing 1 million + people here. It's not simply a case of coming here and taking jobs, depressing wages and so on. It's a mixed picture and it is possible to be thankful and appreciative of those who do put their weight, while also getting to a point where we can set our own merit based system. A point systen like Australia perhaps.

Yeah cos what we all need is another thread about f*cking immigration. Don't you ever have a day off? It's probably a pretty good barometer of what (some) people are obsessed with these days. Anyway, give it another 24 hours or so and we'll have this week's school shooting in America to distract us.
