Number 1 recommendation:
Do not plan a long first day. Driving in Europe is exhausting on your first experience. Day 2 onwards will be OK though.

Number 2:
Check out European road signs and local Highway Codes.
Check out Germany's eco restrictions - you could easily be prevented from driving into city centres.

Number 3:
Avoid Brussels. No, forget that. Avoid Belgium - crazy road network. Luxemboug is good though.

Go through the Ardennes. They won't be expecting you in the Ardennes.

Dunno about all that but Slovakia has the prettiest girls I have ever seen. Bratislava is lovely but it does get a bit boring in the end. For a city it feels like a small town.

Honda CRVs are good. Skoda manufactures in Slovakia and Yetis are good but not old enough to be cheap.

Take a camera! Not only are the views stunning but the local models are amazing looking and happy to model for you!

By the way Dan, you will need to buy winter tyres. It's a legal requirement if there is snow or ice. I believe in the Czech Republic it's mandatory to carry them from November until March. As I recall you have to put them on to use the highways, but that may be only during snow.

Make sure your car has plenty of boot room In case you see Slovak model Karina Hart and want to bring her back for me.

I bet you get as far as Amsterdam and end up doing 'a Superfly'.
