Sorry to hear that.

I know what it feels like to lose a loyal friend that has unconditional love for his owner.

I've cried like a baby as all of my previous greyhounds have passed away peacefully.

The house feels empty when they've gone, bless em.

Did they go quickly?

is that your idea of comedy or just poorly worded.

I'll give him the benefit Bob....

Yes thankfully... the last two had back leg failure so it was necessary to call the vet to our home and put them to sleep. I cradled their heads whilst the vet did his job. It's an awful feeling to feel the weight as the poor thing slips away.

Heartbreaking. I've never loved any human to the extent I've loved the dogs I've had. I really feel for you,

Deepest sympathy for your loss. People who don't have pets often don't understand how awful the separation can be. 2009 was one of the worst years of our lives when we lost our lovely Westie, Holly (15, and our two rescue cats Ginger (17) and Flossie (1. But they had all succumbed to disease and ailments which made their lives miserable and painful for them and us.

Time will help and at first although you might feel that you never want another "friend" again, maybe like us another one will come. Our rescue Westie, Daisy ( has gone a long way towards filling the void and perhaps the same will happen for you.

Don't know why the faces appeared instead of ages in my post above. Looks rather silly I'm afraid.

..they rely on us for everything, always watching and waiting for our next move, it's the suddenness of them not being around anymore and hearing their name being called out that really hurts...you actually really miss saying their name, it is awful, bloody awful and your spot on Mr Funt.

Simply put, it's the hardest thing to do.

You spend many great years of your lives together, you bring them up from puppy to old age and your there for their every need. They need you and you need them, it's a relationship and it's sad that the day comes where you have to be cruel to be kind. You have to make a conscious decision to take your best friends life. Incredibly difficult and something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

You put the last bracket too close to the number 8 if you had left a gap it would have been 8 ) but instead it became a cool smilie .
