The first couple of series of Minder was as good as anything seen on TV in the seventies and early eighties. He'll be selling dodgy halos now. rip Arfur/'Arry/George - you were superb. To show how much he was thought of back then I saw him in a play once a long time ago when the audience gave him a standing ovation when he entered the stage and before he could get his first line out.

Arthur Daley, one of the best British TV characters ever.
In the woods there grew a tree. And a fine fine tree was he. |

I really thought he was already dead. Minder with Dennis Waterman was fun TV in it's day and obviously Arthur Daley was a memorable TV character before the days of satellite TV and when restrictions on TV violence was at their height. A shame they carried on with Gary Webster because those episodes were terrible. RIP

One of my favourite episodes was where Arthur was doing jury service. The interaction between him and the other jurors was brilliant.

The one that used to make me chuckle was when he was having a power breakfast with a Jock gangster who would pour whisky on his cornflakes...

I would say all 7 Dennis Waterman series mate, it went a bit pants after that, but was still watchable just for George Cole/Arthur Daley My favourite all time show, best episode has to be when Patrick Mower was in it as a bigomist, also stared Ray Winstone as Arnie the mechanic RIP a true legend of TV

So much change from then and so much fighting back then too. I'd almost forgotten how going to a gig was just as dangerous as going into the home end at other London football grounds.

Of course you are right Kermit. My memory is selective and it certainly wasn’t all better back then. I remember the trains being vandalised, phone boxes not working, etc. etc.
