Yet they manage to send two policemen for this situation and they completely succeed in bringing the force into disrepute [Link] I must add that the occasions when I have had any interaction with the police they have always been helpful and kind to me. Which is why tw*ts like this really pi*s me off.

I've posted this on here before but a few years back a gang of black blokes raided my 70yr old mums house one held a machete to her throat whilst they helped themselves then left she called the police & it took hours to respond. f*** the police, they'll cry about cuts when really it's the middle management & above who shouldn't be deciding where the money goes.
The mountains are calling & I must go. |

The Police as you knew it is no more. Get ready for G4S security guards patrolling the streets instead of officers..... It will happen in the next 10 years I will bet my mortgage on it. Over 100 officers are resigning every month... Talk of compulsary severance being implemented to try and meet the cuts set by this government. A months wages for every year I've been in the job as a payoff??.... I'd bite their hand off and get the he'll out of there!!

I'll never forget the Gollywog squad. About 15 officers were involved in this operation by all accounts.

I've got a suggestion for the old bill to save a bit of us taxpayers money, get shot of the big flashy cars Bm's, Range Rovers etc. Before anyone on here comes out with the old chestnut " well they need those sort of high powered vehicles to catch criminals " Well, paramedics need a bit of speed to get to accidents etc. And most of them up this way get away with a Skoda. I think with the law it's all about generating an image, for us humble taxpayers I think they should just lower their sights. When I see the law in an X5 BMW it makes me wonder who sanctions buying these type of vehicles when times are tight, just a thought.

Barmy to think they may not go after a burglar, while you're likely to get a copper knock on your door over a Twitter post. And that's not posts like 'I just dun a murder lol', rather those such as 'Celeb A is a [insert racial slur] cnut'. The force's own example is that they'd prioritise sex offenses over burglaries, presumably a sick but valid comparison due to the common presence of DNA evidence. I don't want to discuss the similarities and differences but it seems a ridiculous excuse for inactivity and focusing on cuts rather than improving efficiency. Ease of work I guess, burglary requires a lot of work in order to obtain an arrest or conviction - typically a forensic team, a detective, court appearances, statements, follow ups, theft assessment and call out, with a typically low statistical chance of a success. Where as something like these cases, is a straight slam dunk, one officer job, with a very high likelihood of a conviction.

Government at its worst, the police service is an essential function of state. The cuts to the Prison and Police service were inexcusable, at a time when the police services of the UK need to be reforming in line with recent developments. Whilst its easy to be critical of the police in certain areas and incidences, its important to remember that they also serve as an essential function of state and society that cannot be overstated in its importance. Better that the deficit took longer to reduce than we end up with G4 security and reduced police services. Essential services are what at core, we pay taxes to preserve and deploy. In my opinion, the police service is more important than defense.

I know the police in the West Midlands enforced in 2011 a series of public order offences relating to the display of golliwog dolls, but none of the incidents seem to relate to the image of police reaction that you seem to suggest.

Edited by JL85 (30 Jul 2015 5.33am) Funnily enough I did initially read about this story in Richard Littlejohn's column in the Daily Mail.
