Sea kayaks are specifically made for use in the sea and you can get a tandem kayak if you'd like to take someone else out with you.

Many thanks guys. I guess the bits I've read regarding Canadian canoes being stable relate to on calm waters...but then the larger surface area becomes and issue on waves, correct? So, I guess now all I need to know are the main differences between fishing kayaks and the standard cheaply things. Sure, as discussed one you sit in, one you sit on. But other than fancy compartments and a rod holder, is the design of the boat any different? In a nut shell, I don't have a spare £200, would rather grab a standard mould for £50 and see how I get on, but won't if it's going to be dangerous! Cheers!

You might be able to rent one to give it a go. Also, when paddling some kayaks are very stable, but not so when they are not moving. You will want something that is stable when not moving.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

Don't fish from a kayak when there are bull sharks about. Unlike this dick.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |
