Give them a years amniesty, then anyone found to be owning an assualt rifle or automatic weapon gets jailed.

Soon sort it out.

He could've used a handgun.

If you had a hundred year amnesty, you'd still not get even half of the total I reckon.

Colt just went bankrupt too. Lots of cheap stock to add to the already heaving market.

So is it terrorism? The man in question wanted to affect an outcome from his actions, that were politically motivated, and reflective of a lot of 'Far Right Extremist' groups in the US, who see themselves as a vanguard movement for the 'White Race'.

I think in terms of gun law the US needs to start slowly, removing things like public carry and transportation, magazine limitations, specified areas for recreation use only, laws on transportation and storage of firearms. Restriction on the sale of certain ammunition.

And a ban on the sale of certain types of firearm (say M-16 / AR-15 style assault rifles). So if you own one, you get to keep it, but going forward it cannot be sold, lent or given to anyone else, and can only be used on specified locations, with strict rules on the transport of firearms, storage and accessibility to ammunition.

You'll never get rid of guns entirely in the US, without doing it over generations.

No he's just a poor misunderstood individual who felt disenfranchised with the way people saw him and his views so he was open to those extremists who used him as a tool.

Is what some on here would say no names eh sterling.

Me, however the blokes just as bad as any Islamic shoe bomber, in fact worse, as he succeeded.

In some areas of the states that will result in insurrection, and a lot of dead, rather stupid people. Which generally I'm ok with, its those who get caught in the inevitable cross fire.

Texas will likely declare independence of something stupid.

Could it be yet another example of how people of different races don't get on that well.

I was thinking the same thing Jamie. If he were anything other than white this would probably be considered terrorism in the media. Also, I see no mention of his religion either.. hmm.

No, he had a politicized agenda, based around race and a motivation that was based on racial separatism, that makes it political.

If the slaughtering of primary school children at Sandy Hook in 2012 wasn't a decent enough reason to do something about gun control, then I don't know what is!!!

I know Piers Morgan isn't everyone's cup of tea (!!), but he makes some good points here.

Yes, Danny is right. The young man was no doubt 'vulnerable' and upset by US foreign policy and 'idealistic', and the police and teachers did nothing to stop him.
