Chukka Umuna (sp) would be their best choice. I'm hoping as a Tory they go for someone awful like Andy Burnham or Yvette Cooper.

The fact their Numero Dos and would be Chancellor didn't even win his seat and their campaign manager lost to a University student shows the dearth of decent politicians in the labour ranks. Maybe Harriet Harperson ? That'll be a third term for Cameron then....

The sad facts is that Labour simply haven't got anyone.. In these style above substance days of political thought they simply picked the wrong Milliband last time out... I think that most Tories breathed a sigh of relief when the Trade Unions managed to get their man the top job instead of the brother that could actually have posed a threat to the Conservatives

Those Transfer day deadline deals in full Ed Milliband: Labour (Contract Cancelled by mutual consent) Nick Clegg: Liberal Democrat to Labour (Free) All joking aside, Labour rather than rebranding themselves as the third way, conservative lite, would be better off actually looking at how the SNP have succeed in Scotland in going from a small nothing party to being its sole political power in 20 years - Even whilst surviving the failure of their 'one issue' campaign (Independence). For Labour to resurrect itself, it needs to reestablish itself as a political party of the people that delivers actual real tangible benefits to the people, rather than the faux s**t of New Labour. Across an era that's seen the idea of 'left wing' politics diminish, the SNP has flourished as a left wing nationalist party and destroyed the Scottish Labour Party as a force north of the border (including areas traditionally regarded as being stalwart Labour). Because if they don't, in five years they'll be rapidly approaching insignificance.

Labour, especially in the South, needs to stop sneering down its Islingtonian middle class nose at the 'white van, flag of St George in the front garden' white working class voter and try to engage them again. They have abandoned them and what, in the face of a pretty piss poor and unpopular Tory Government should have seen a walk in the park in picking up the disaffected white working class vote they have seen it go to UKIP (in the main) and the SNP (although the SNP were always going to win big in Scotland for the same reasons as England). Millibands legacy as leader is to be filed with Michael Foot and Neil Kinnock in the A for Absymal draw....really shocking.
