I am beginning to come round to thinking that Mateta is a better player than Benteke. Full of running, gets into position and can finish.

Whereas Benteke is only good if he gets decent crosses and corners.
If we can off-load him and get Ntekia then would be good case for buying Mateta. Beginning to show what he can do after almost complete neglect by Hodgson.

As for the game, not happy with big holes in our midfield causing a lot of panicky clearances and suicide passes. Don't seem to be playing 4-3-3 anymore.

Mateta can be frustrating to watch but if it’s a toss up between him and Benteke I’d keep Mateta and get rid of Benteke all day long.

Very pleased with the win.

Olise class act.
Minutes for Eze.
Gallagher getting back to match fitness.

Midfield looked a little too open without Kouyate and took us a while to get going but the important thing is we're through to the next round.

Millwall down, Brighton to go

Apologies. I may have been a tad over-optimistic in predicting a draw. This is our usual cup tie crap thus far.

Apologies. I meant "over-pessimistic"

Here's the match report from the clubs website . . . [Link]

The interviewer is the one that needs lessons. You are supposed to ask short leading questions to get the interviewee to respond. He rambled on and most of his long questions only need a yes or no answer.

Anyway who ever won a game in the post match interview.

Bugs me the way they keep apologising, it’s a football match FFS, what do they expect? especially at Millwall

I believe the commentators are adhering to the broadcasting regulations.
The commentator kept apologising but I for one never heard an expletive !

A good 20 minutes was enough to win it. Disappointed to see us drop back, allow Millwall possession and make it difficult for ourselves. Olise was an easy MOTM and Eze started to show a few nice touches so hope he can be back to top form very soon.

I too was disappointed that we sat very "Deep".

After taking off more attacking threats and bringing on Clyne,Milivojevic and Riedewald, it did occur to me that if Millwall equalised we could be in trouble.

I think 4-3-3 tends to become 4-5-1 too often the right or left sided central midfielder should cover the full back, they need too stay farther forward or the one gets isolated. in the second half much better

Totally agree about the post-match interview with Olise. The rambling questions left him puzzled to know how to answer. Interviewer should have asked: "Talk us through your brilliant goal."

Why do i sh*t myself everytime Guehi and Andersen start fannying around at the back. Our high possession stats are 50% of passes between those two alone.

Any coincidence, that in the second half, we didnt do all that silly passing along the backline, but hoofed it up the pitch.
