In terms of respective PL finishes.

2017-18 Everton 8th, CPFC 11th
2018-19 Everton 8th, CPFC 12th
2019-20 Everton 12th, CPFC 14th.

Currently Everton are 8th and we are 12th.
They are 9 pts ahead of us with a game in hand and will certainly finish ahead of us this season.

So that's 230 millions Everton spend against illustrious Eagles 10 millions?

For 2/3 places better and no Europe or top 4?

I know where I would rather be !!

What gets me about Everton, like Arsenal, they are so condescending, so entitled, but their end results simply don't match up.

There should be a 'whine-ometer' for Burnham and Ancellotti.

A measurement of the huge achievement involved in keeping our little old club punching above its weight year on year.
We are not always pretty , and maybe Everton, and a few others can claim to be a little better on the eye, but at what cost?
It’s a great shame that the efforts to keep us in the top division on a relative shoe string are not better received by many on these pages.
Not your good self of course.

Watching the match highlights again we were fortunate not to get tonked, the ease with which they cut through our slow defence was embarassing. Two young and fit centre halves should be urgent requirements for next season.

Guaita had an excellent game, but can't agree about not getting tonked.

Guaita once again kept us in the game. To think that there has been some criticism of him on this board is baffling, he's pretty much indispensable.

He’s been brilliant all season, I had him top 5 keepers in the Premiership. But I think he is most probably top 3 as I can’t think of anyone that has been consistently better than him.

Everton - never has so much money been spent to so little effect.

Have they won anything at all I don't think so.

For all their riches they are usually only a place or two different to us.

Well they certainly didn't win the ZDS in 1991!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Everton last won honours in 1995 when they were won the FA Cup and Charity Shield.

A few years ago Parish stated he wanted us to get to about the same level as Everton, as he thinks that is the achievable long term target.

There player expenditure has been a lot more than us, but two important factors are missed from that simple comparison.

1) Everton's billionaire owners haven't got a targeted transfer strategy. They have a patchwork quilt of big money signing. Our signs over the last 10 years seem to have been more carefully considered as we are not in a situation where we can take fast and lose approach to spending money. £30m on Iwobi!

2) Many of their players hold value, just like with Bournemouth. Where our entire squad would be fortunate to raise £100m in transfer fees, there squad could still make millions in player sales. Using a car analogy. We are buying old bangers which will do a job for a few years before being scrapped. They are taking a punt on new cars, many of which turn out lose a lot of value as soon as they drive off the forecourt - but one or two might become a classic.

Either way, decent performance by Palace. We seemed to be a bit more confident at taking the ball into close proximity to the opposition. Went wrong a few times, but there was an extra threat with the addition risks we took.

I like Reidewald and Luka in midfield, its the best combination we have. Only issue is all our combinations are very slow and can eventually be split. Please play an attacking player with them in midfield.

Also, if we are to play Benteke, don't pass the ball out of the defence every time. Try and mix it up with launching it to the man every now and then and get Zaha, Ayew, Eze in close proximity to latch onto anything he knocks down. It's just to slow and obvious.

With Benteke in mind. Here's a summary of his skills to help decide tactics when he's on the pitch:

Excellent @ Heading.
s*** @ Everything else.

That adds up to £55 million for each higher league place.

Value?

He was fantastic. Although just as a counter argument, they were sort of all straight at him. Apart from the low one down to his right, which was a super stop.
