Today, he looked a step up from ok to me. Defended well, showed more pace than I thought he had, got forward and looked calm and composed with the ball at feet, picking a few good passes. Was the highlight of the game for me asides from an outrageous goal of course! Edited by Nicholas91 (02 Jan 2021 7.29pm) He was absolutely flawless today. He is a better defender than PVA and his passing is better. The position is his to lose now.

Yet according to you we had them on the run and they kicked us off the park to prevent a thrashing..?? Additionally they only had 3 yellow cards - hardly call that attritional..!! Just an observation..!! COYP Sadly you fail to see the wood for the trees.

Well played today and a great result. If it hadn’t been for Eze’s wonder goal McArthur would have been MOTM. He worked his socks off today. I agree With the posts re captain. Neither Luca nor Wilf are skipper material but I thin Mac is the lease on the field and I’d make him captain for the rest of the season. I thought Roy was spot on with his post match interview re Eze and his defensive responsibilities. You need to track back in the PL Ian’s can’t get away with not doing it like you can in the championship. Roy and Ray will make the lad a better all round player. Remember how lazy Wilf was defensively and how much he has improved. Mind you his temperament is still an issue and Roy should have considered subbing him today. As for that goal. Reminded me of John Hughes runner up for goal of the season in 1971. And guess who that was against? I’d add a link if I wasn’t such a techy Luddite! Help anyone? It’s on the redandbluearmy site.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

3 vital points. The best thing about Eze's goal was the precise finish - no wild blast, just caressed accurately into the corner; highly impressive!

Very welcome and necessary three points against very limited opposition. Did we lose twice to that lot last year? Even our journeymen players looked good today. While accepting that you can only play against what you're up against on the day, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Reaching for my hard helmet, I'll venture that the game that followed us on Sky looked as if it came from a division higher. We can still struggle with the notion that it is about winning the ball, bringing it under control, and then passing it, preferably quickly, to someone on your side.

A comfortable win. For those who moan about Sheff U having more possession than us (55-45), Spurs had just 37% today, but still beat Leeds 3-0). It's about what you do with the possession you have. Sheffield Utd didn't do a great deal with theirs and the main reason for that was that we were well organized and limited their shots on goal. Sheffield Utd have now lost 15 games this season. HOWEVER, we are just the FOURTH team to have beaten them by more than one goal. So for those who are underwhelmed by our achievement today what about those 11 teams who only beat them by one goal (they include, Leeds, Villa, Man C, Liverpool, Arsenal, West Ham, Everton, Leicester and Man U)? We are now more than half way to safety and still 2 more (albeit difficult) away games before we reach the half-way mark in games. We weren't at our best today, but then we didn't need to be. Savour the victory and be thankful that we didn't (as many had thought we would) slip up on the |Sheff U banana skin and give them their first win.
