I think that was Kouyate actually, Benteke missed it, unless we are talking about a different save.

Thought he got a touch after Kouyate but okay if wrong?

We just have to accept that we are a mediocre bottom of the table team.
Ageing players, lack of energy and reliant on Zaha.
It is no coincidence that we have lost 14 out of 16 games when Zaha has been missing.

Is the reality. Real lack of quality and ability to go up a gear and a very thin looking bench which exposes yet another questionable transfer window.

Clean sheets are now starting to become scarce and Cahill and McCarthy can’t come back quick enough for me to bring some proper leadership and guile.

Townsend had a horror show, Riedewald is being over hyped and his ability to impose and at Premier League pace is still very open to question IMO.

Eze was excellent and deserved more from the game. Understand the Benteke sub but the myth that his lack of goals is down to tactics has finally been put to bed I guess.

The centre backs looked shaky from the start. We need to change Kouyate, who is playing out of position and Scott Dann looks poor and out of his depth. Burnley were so much better playing out of defence and looking for an attacking pass but our centre backs either passed it back or played a square pass. But we were poor through out the team and it showed how dependent we are on Wilf.

Don’t disagree, we have 3 better players in Cahill, Tomkins and Sakho than those two. We also play the ball out from the back better with them. Hopefully Hodgson has seen tonight that they need to come back in. Kouyate will be better in midfield as well with perhaps Reidewald. McCarthur looking off the pace these days. With that said this team will win the next 3 and I will be eating my words :-)

Yes, sorry you are right. Everyone saying brilliant save but it looks like Benteke miraculously managed to find his outstretched arm even though the keeper wasn’t looking!

my bullet points
Burnley pressed very well we had to play facing our own goal
They got their goal from an up an under.
Palace didnt impose themselves in the game or had any idea how to get back into the game once burnley scored.
Palace eze and batsuyai need to practise together.
Benteke does have a presence on the pitch but will not score this season if he cant put that chance away, FFS the keeper leant forward and closed his eyes.

Ive said before ROY can only play one way if we score first its normally ok. But we havent come from behind to get a win or a point ? for a long long time.

If we were playing Palace Bingo, we could called have called house and got the jackpot.

Every Palace bad point and football cliche in 90 minutes.

I could list them, but just can't be bothered.

Surely that’s it for Townsend now. Yet another dreadful display from a player who gets an easier ride than anyone I have ever known. Eze was excellent and it was a really good display from Clyne, but so many of the usual 7/10 merchants had a stinker. We must play Sakho in games like this to get passing moves going. Jimmy Mac was poor, the CBs were off their game and Ayew’s inconsistency is becoming a problem. As for the myth Batshuayi, I just don’t know how he has such a big reputation. But hopefully we will have Wilf back and will make no mistake on Friday against a side every bit as bad as Burnley.

Burnley were aware that if we got the ball out wide and delivered crosses they could handle them with ease.

We were pedestrian - we needed to move the ball quicker to pull their defenders out of position.

We looked awful in defence and many players let themselves down with inept performances.

I am not convinced that McArthur can play in a 2 man midfield. He is more suited to playing in a '3'.

Eze is far more suited to playing centrally than out wide.

Finally we had much more of the ball in the second half but generally never looked like scoring.

Townsend should be on the bench. He took almost all the set pieces. Looked like Eze deferred to him when he is much better at free kicks and corners. In the absence of Zaha he was given the ball out wide and couldn’t hit a half decent cross.

Bats is only good enough for the bench too. We have at least learned that we should keep our cash in the summer and let him go backt to Chelski.

Despite his shortcomings we looked more likely when Benteke came on. He should be up front until we find someone better.

We need to build our team round Eze and Banks

Too many sub standard performances tonight.
Easier to list those who have done okay - Eye and Clyde have done well whilst Townsend has tried his best.
Other than that all pretty poor me thinks

Eye and Clyde!
Sorry - Eze and Clyne!
I'll get my coat!

Tonight was a classic example of how we've been playing for the past 2-3 years. Slow, unable to pass, unable to handle pressure on the ball when we have it.

We try to hang around for 90 minutes and hope for a lucky goal from Zaha. Painful to watch. And now our clean sheets have disappeared this year.

I feel like we always in danger of going on a long losing streak, like the 7 in a row at the end of last year.

Agree with this and many of the other comments.

Very poor tonight...and this against a team without a win or a home goal this season, until they play us of course!

Batshuayi should really have salvaged a point for us and that was an awful miss when one on one with the keeper.

The Leeds scoreline massively flattered us and but for the mistake by the VAR we may well have lost that game.

Playing with such apathy as we did today, I don’t expect us to get anything from the Newcastle game and perhaps a point against WBA, if we’re lucky. Results like the one against Burnley tonight are far more of an accurate representation of where we are with our woeful performances and ageing squad. We will be 15th in the table before Xmas and let’s just hope that Sheffield United, Fulham & WBA continue to lose far more than they win otherwise we will be in yet another drawn out relegation battle.

I had more excitement tonight watching my water tap running.

tactics- clueless, no purpose apart from trying to tread a needle. Can Roy survive?

Kouyate - IVE said it before hes a stop gap and with defenders better on the bench why is he on! he ball watches, he has no defenders "header", out muscled and he is so sloppy with passing, hit and hope.

Townsends should have come off when Schlupp came on- dreadful and out of form again.

When are going to pay a creative midfielder!!

This is our Palace, we sadly still at that level. Stop dreaming this is a survival season...
