If that were a valid reason then no club would ever sack their manager Not in February when our next 4 games are winnable games against teams around us. There was added context to that statement of course.

Correct, it doesn't mean that he is right but as he knows the players better than any other manager available right now then why would we sack him? Also, where was this first helping of crap? We were a great team up until about a month ago, we were sandwiched between Arsenal and Tottenham in 9th place and we've since lost 3 games (4 if you include Derby). Some of the statements that are being banded around about Roy after we've had a bad month of football are just ridiculous. A month may I remind you where we have had the most amount of missing (injuries and suspensions) players than any of the teams around us. No we weren't - we've been playing crap football all season. The tea lady could do a better job with that set of players.

With respect, there was no substantial drop-off in attendances as described.Liverpool regularly got attendances of 40,000+, which was not far off the capacity of Anfield those days. I accept that in their last home game under his command, against Bolton, they got around 35,500 but to suggest there was a reduction of 10,000 over a series of games is inaccurate. The capacity was a couple of hundred below 45,000: they never sold out after the first game, they had 2 games in the xmas/new yeas day period when every club sells out yet they got 41,000 for wolves 35,000 for bolton. The fans were boycotting & going to continue. His football is so dull they call him the anti-football manager. Keep defending him the rest of us will have fallen asleep & woke up in the championship

The season before Hodgson took over, Liverpool finished 7th, some 25 pts behind the league winners Chelsea so well behind the top spot.Liverpool were 12th when Hodgson left after 20 games. I don’t completely blame Parish and Freedman. Roy takes some blame for Sørloth the shambles of Meyer, possibly camerasa, maybe hiding behind excuses that aren’t the full story. Something isn’t right with all three of them and there’s only one that’s going to go and it ain’t Parish or his favourite greasy Scottish &rse rimming licker.

I don't post much these days, but I have to say I'm a little bemused / ashamed of this thread. I think it's possible we'll get relegated, & our football "style" is attritional to put it mildly. but 2 points people:- 1. (minor) - I don't think l anyone else (given our squad) would be able to garner any more points from our remaining fixtures than Roy could. 2. (F-Major) - I think we owe a debt of loyalty to Roy (& Ray) for punching above our weight for 2.5 seasons now - given the shocking squad management - bad transfer window following bad transfer window ad infinitum. This thread (unfortunately) shows me that we're just the same as every other of the "91" - we should aim higher morally in. my opinion. & yes, he should go in the summer No doubt Parish will f-up (again) but offering out of date goods a further shelf extension (Pards, Benteke).

I know PL status isn't everything but I fancy he's our best shot at preserving ours. If Pochettino wants a 3 year contract with us, okay, thanks for all the hard work, Roy. But he doesn't. People calling for change so casually must offer a realistic alternative. Because I don't see one. And don't say Allardyce. He got us out by spending about 36m in one window. With the same players Roy has.

And I would say that is a fairly reasonable assessment of this season and last season. We haven't won any games by playing pretty football but when have we ever won any games playing decent football in this league? We gave 'pretty' football a chance and sacked it off after 4 games. You go from Pulis to Pards to Allardyce to Roy - all play fairly similar conservative style football (some more than others). Roy has just out-performed all the others in my opinion. In terms of saying teams have worked us out, it's easy - don't let Wilfried Zaha into the penalty area and they won't score. Believe me, I am as bored of watching this football as the next guy but until someone can name a decent replacement to Roy, that is available to this club, then why would we sack the manager? Finding the new manager is for the football oracle Freedman to find and decide along with the football and strategy nous of Parish seeing as he’s so good at football strategy cost effectively. (In the summer. Put up with the decline of Roy for this last ordeal)

There’s a poll on the other forum as to whether Roy should stay or go.

2 very inactive transfer windows suggest there is some restriction in our spending ability presently. Roy may not be happy but hasn't run off like some other managers. If this is going to be a similar situation next season then Roy's quotes about talks concerning contract extension are credible. I'm not sure any new manager will come in under those circumstances but Roy might well stay, suiting the owners.

But I’d 100% not extend his employment this summer. His shelf life here is well and truly done. He’s now a turkey unsold on 27th December with a use bu date of Boxing Day.
