I could not believe the pundits and Lineker in particular, making light of Aubameyang's foul on Max Meyer that got him a red. VAR showed it perfectly as a career threatening tackle. I was surprised MM did have a breakage.

What about Danny Murphy? I had admittedly had a few drinks when I watched MOTD, but my memory says that he uttered a load of drivel about the tackle looking worse in slow motion, and looking worse than it was because Meyer's ankle was turned over. I'm lost for words.

Arsenal fans were moaning they were playing against 13 men - meaning the ref and VAR were our side.

Well that was evened up somewhat when Luiz decided to ref the game in the final couple of minutes when we had a free kick !

Overall we were well worth the point although again too passive in the opening 20 minutes.

I thought the turning point was from a dropped ball that Arsenal decided to keep rather than return to us. It riled the crowd and our players and we got in their faces after that.

Murphy’s comment was just insulting. In these cases the injured player is very often out for longer than the one banned for crippling him.

It is only slight, but Aubemayang does actually appear to slightly raise his tackle, not lower it, which suggests he might not be as innocent as everyone is trying to make out. Most Palace fans didn't complain when Sakho was sent off and he barely caught the player, whereas this instance is practically the modern day definition of a red card tackle i.e. out of control, studs up and potential to cause injury.

I do think however if that had been Luiz or one of Arsenal's other defensive players no one would have questioned the decision, and it seems perhaps it is just Aubamayang's reputation as being a 'nice guy' that is leading to people talking out of their ars*s.

If you want a laugh and a taste of a totally delusional gooner then this is the link to follow. Tends to ignore the fact Xakha committed 6 fouls in the first half alone with Kolasnic not far behind him.

No mention of Pepe stamping on our player I notice?!! Maybe they were swayed by some of their player's acting abilities, such as when Tomkins' arm brushed Socrates face and he went down clutching his face and screaming of injustice. We were physical, and I did think Ayew was lucky not to get booked for repeated fouls, but you could hardly call us dirty. Also, every time we went to break they used tactical fouls around the half way line. The referee was pretty lenient on both teams with regard to bookings but his decisions had no impact on the result. With regard to VAR it was as clear a red as you're going to see: studs up, out of control and potential to cause injury.

This Arsenal fan is clearly fed up that aside from 20 minutes they weren't much better than they have been since Arsene left. Given they only had one injury in their squad this probably is a poor result from then given our decimated squad. I hope for his sake we finish above Arsenal

Re MoTD they were very quick to say Sakho's red card against BMouth was justified. Very biased against Palace. However sod em I now tend to just watch the games and ignore their drivel, except when we're featured.

The first thing I said after their goal is that they wouldn’t have carved through us if Luca had been playing. He is hard as nails and most opposition are scared of him. Plus he keeps on Zahas back. Keeps him going. Sorely missed in my view. But he needs help with keeping his head.

That is interesting as I have come to the conclusion that he really isn’t hard at all. He can be niggly, hence all the bookings, but when he gets clattered like Weed at home last season, he doesn’t in my view, want to know. He postures a lot, but compared to say Jedi, he isn’t hard.

And as for not having the opposition carve through when he is there, he was AWOL many times in the first half against Weed this season and left Jairo hanging out to dry repeatedly. On form he doesn’t deserve to be picked ahead of anybody else at the moment

I was unhappy how we set up for the game.
This is the third game where Meyer has played on the right and it doesn’t work from an attacking or defensive standpoint.
He hasn’t got the pace/strength to play the role and can’t tackle.
It’s almost as if Hodgson is setting him up to fail.
I also see it as pointless for Wilf to continue to play in a narrow channel on the left about 60 yards by 20 yards.
He is so easy to contain when he plays in a confined space.
If he’s tightly marked and can’t get a kick he needs to be able to move around the field. We have 3 defensive midfielders and a solid back 4 which should provide enough defensive cover to allow more movement across the field from him.
It’s almost as if he’s playing in a straitjacket.
Set Wilf free - and I don’t mean by transferring him!

Completely agree. Jedi was hard. Luca, fine player that he is, is like you say just niggly.

What they're referring to is malice and that the tackle wasn't meant to take Meyer out but an genuine attempt to get the ball and I agree with them, Murphy even suggested an orange card! lol, it was the same as Sakho's red (actually more or less in the same place) and that looked a lot worse in the same way, but he was genuinely clearing the ball away with no intention of taking the player out, both were dangerous but only because of timing issues.
The game is going to become non contact quite soon I believe because of all the pulling and pushing that is going on as well.
