Poor luck - remember, we are not responsible for what happened at the selling club's end - not to have got another keeper and DM; and equally poor luck we are without key players for the season through injury... Actually, I am not sure you are trying to say here? I think we are slowly and carefully growing a good squad within our limited budget and with our limited brand name. I know we are not there yet. Does that still make me rose tinted? Meanwhile, who highlighted in red to reflect "not fit for purpose". Total bollox re keepers... and Lee as occasional back-up. And "untried in the prem" - I suspect it won't take long to make an extensive list of players currently plying their trade in the prem who are having a very nice career, thanks very much, but who had no prem experience... before they had prem experience! And 2 injured players are likely to return for the run-in. I could turn this on its head and say you are unnecessarily pessimistic.

For a start we missed out on a striker in the last window al, we left it to late this time to sort the Lille defender, the striker from Norway is unproven in the premier league, we didn't sign a goalkeeper, and we still have a couple of players we should have got of the payroll and haven't. Did we even go after sturridge I think he would have come to London.......is that enough?

We could've sorted that out earlier. No excuses there. It was possible and probably not going to cost much more from abroad or just a loan.

Yawn. all this constant slagging off of our transfer dealings is getting a bit boring. None of us are privy to 99% of what goes on in the background, even those tedious souls that claim to be in the know - they aren't. If they were they'd be making a fortune from the bookies and not spending most of the day on this site. We have very clearly been screwed over for Ammadou and the keeper by the selling clubs. What some people on here expect is total nonsense - should we pay double what someone is worth just to get it done? How long do you think that business model would e sustainable for? If you were buying a watch that's worth £1,000 and the shop told you they wanted £2,000 would you pay it from your own pockets? Or perhaps we should get agreements in place for 2 players then pull the plug once we sign one - how many clubs would do sensible business with us after we've done something like that? How much would we moan if another club did that to us? Transfers are not simple things and can't be done without a lot of hurdles to jump over unless you are one of the mega rich clubs which we are not, we can't just throw money at it and hope for the best. I'm personally glad and grateful that we are being run in a way that won't lead to administration again any time soon. Trust me, if you take an approach to actually supporting your club and the decisions that they make when you genuinely feel that they have the clubs overall long term interests at heart, you'll find the stress in your life decreases. If anyone on here doesn't honestly think we have one of the best boards out there they are mistaken. Edited by Littlebogreek (01 Feb 2018 11.51am)

Despite what most people think though, keeper just wasn't the biggest priority. It's not like we've been getting spanked every week with lots of goalkeeping howlers. There are not many games to go, and as good as this Getafe keeper could be, it would be asking an awful lot to drop a guy in for his first Premier League action behind a constantly rotating back four, not to mention the potential language barrier issue in a position where communication is so important. It often takes time for keepers to settle, and I'm not that bothered about Hennessey, who is familiar with this defence and they with him, getting through until the end of the year. The biggest things we needed were outfield. We badly needed a striker, we got one. We needed a midfielder who can pass the ball, we got one. We needed some cover at the back, we got that. Was it perfect? No, but I think we have addressed our biggest needs.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Perhaps we could have a thread where members can mark our transfer activity on a scale of 1 to 10.

Just because there's half a season left we could still come a cropper with only having 2 keepers. Let's hope it doesn't happen but please don't tell me it won't because it could happen within 2 games and please nobody say it would've cost us an absolute fortune to have sorted it out a week earlier. I'm not talking about the Getaffe keeper who we understandably want to wait till the summer for a free transfer, eveyif it means losing out on him. I'm just talking about a bit of cheap insurance. We've done that in the past yet when it comes to a priority position we leave it late. Even the Brondby fans think it would've happened if we were earlier to give them time to sign a replacement, just like Tosun.
