I think everyone gets it that you don't think Ward can do the job. You do not need to repeat yourself like a broken record. Fact is that no goals were let in, he made a goal line clearance (not for the first time) against a good West Ham and the manager is playing him. He will be replaced probably in January, until then you can rest assured that everybody has now heard that you have a dislike for Ward playing. So we’re agreed then Ward ain’t good enough..!! That’s the only point I was making - keep your hair on..!! COYP

I thought it was a stunning performance and everyone played their part. There was a passion that has been missing for a while. What pleased me most was seeing Wilf really enjoying his football. Yes its only one game and Tottenham were pretty poor, so let's not get ahead of ourselves but hugely promising and very entertaining. I actually felt quite emotional when the 3rd goal went in. Support was outstanding as well.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

So indulge me - you seriously think Ward at this stage of his career (I’ve already accepted that he has previously been a great servant) is a premiership standard right back..?? Beyond that given the class and ability we now have in the squad - he is at that level and tell me how and why..?? Simple question just needs a simple answer..!! Don’t dance around other posters this is about my opinion and yours..!! I’ll freely admit I think Ward is way passed his best, and has been for a few seasons and that we should have replaced him in the summer - in fact should have replaced him the moment AWB left - that’s what 2 seasons ago..!! Let’s be honest - he wasn’t good enough when AWB came into the side as an unproven youngster - now all of a sudden what 4 seasons later and 4 years older in a much better squad he’s at that/this level - do me a favour..!! But football is all about opinion and this site is about reasoned debate so from that perspective within reason everyone’s point of view is valid..!! I’ll leave it with I’ll guarantee if Ward remains in situ (which he won’t) he’ll cost us far more than he will benefit us and will become a liability - if he isn’t that already..!! COYP So now Mr. Hodgson has gone you now want to start on Joel Ward ? Top trolling.

I see that in spite of a good game by us the usual suspects have the usual axes out to grind. I thought a good game from Ward and really good one from Mitchell. If he can keep it up it justifies the faith mgt has had in him. A good job all round from the team playing a side that usually has our number. Both lack pace and are easily beaten when the ball goes over the top out on the wings and whilst Mitchell may not yet be the finished article he certainly lacks awareness on positioning often getting on the wrong side of attackers as well as lacking physicality which means he is easily dispossessed at times which lets the opposition in, let us all hope that with time he improves in those areas!

Utterly ridiculous. Just enjoy the result. Name one player PV picked today who was available to RH and not selected to play? RH did a fantastic job with the resources he had available. He kept us in the top division longer than any other manager in our history has managed to do. Please everyone, let's move on. We have moved on, thankfully! Roy kept us up, I’m grateful for that but the football was absolutely awful, just look back at the comments from supporters and pundits over the last couple of Seasons…setting up for a 0-0 draw at Home to the likes of Southampton or Brighton and getting completely outplayed in the process is just embarrassing and indefensible. Todays performance shows us what what we have been missing for so long and it rather flies in the face of all of those saying that ONLY with Hodgson and his dull Roy ball tactics could we stay up this season!

Clearly the sending off didn't help Spurs, but we really did put up a performance. I've been rattling on a while on here about not drawing too many conclusions from the new approach and management, and a performance like this doesn't hurt. Bodes well. Nice one lads.

Magnificent performance. It’s many years since every single player managed at least 8/10. Loved how we had a threat down the right for a change, and having a bench full of talent is massively encouraging. Just one slight moan: why could only Gallagher and Andersen, and to a lesser extent Jimmy and Ward, be bothered to walk over and give the fans a decent clap at the end. This thing of the players making a beeline for the tunnel from the centre circle gets bang on my nerves. But apart from that it was a beautiful day.

Back from the game. Understandably euphoric. And hopefully Eduoard's contribution ends forever the debate about Benteke being good if he 'only had the service'. The way Eduoard pulled off the defender so giving himself the space and instinctively knowing the location of the bottom corner is a great skill and one that Benteke has never displayed. Funny how Vieira said that Benteke played fantastically for the first 70mins, still what does he know about the players or the club compared to you? Edited by Orange1290 (11 Sep 2021 7.04pm)

So you had an opinion - despite not actually watching today’s game - whatever..!!! Look simple thing on here we’re all Palace and today’s performance was a brilliant..!! But if we are going to continue to move forward - then there’s no place for nostalgia - you’re either good enough and at the races or you ain’t - it’s as simple as that..!! COYP

It wasn’t the sending off the reason why Spurs lost as we was all over them in the first half our midfield was attacking them in their defensive half, this stop them from forming an attack which was why Kane hardly touch the ball.the sending off came in the second half.
