1) A lot of teams seem to be lacking fight at this point in the pandemic-addled season.
2) For all his flaws, McArthur always brings more fight to the action.
3) On attack, I thought we connected passes better in the 2nd half than we have in a while. It helps that Spurs play sloppy defense.

McCarthur is badly missed. He does a massive job for us and I am praying he is back fit soon.

Incredible acceptance of a 4-1 defeat. God knows what we do in training but it’s definitely not passing!
and again no animation from our manager from the touch line, just f*****g stands there looking non plussed.

Because we played okay v one of the richest clubs in Europe with a team we could only dream of having. An upset was all we could hope for and we did okay?!

There is no disguising the fact we lost 4-1 but we were undone by 2 world class goals and a Spurs forward line worth 300 million.

We are so desperately short of bite and pace in central midfield. The way we play, those two positions are extremely important for us but we have done nothing really to adequately strengthen this area other than signing McCarthy who is injury prone.

Whilst we have so many injuries I’m not sure why Kouyate hasn’t moved back into midfield and Kelly given another shot at CH.

Kouyate is more mobile than both Luka and Riedewald but I suppose who we really miss is McArthur for whom we have no like for like replacement.

Much investment required and I’m afraid to say.

For a team with a manager who is apparently an expert in a defensive set up we have taken some real hidings this season. Six defeats have cost us a goal difference of minus 24. Apart from that everything is hunky dory

4-1 is not ok and your last sentence sums up where we are at and our ambitions.

Moving on to West Brom

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

We are basically trying to frustrate opponents and hope to get lucky and snatch the odd goal.

TBH mate if we had a reasonably fit squad he would not play.

Agreed. We're a 30% possession team...which is why McArthur/Luka are better options in there.

I'm just challenging your assertion that he's technically sh*t.

I grant you two World class goals but the other two were poor marking and positional play yet again. We also don’t know how to play when we are pressed with end result being lost possession as happened in the first. We really struggle with the basics.

There’s no doubt our midfield is the problem however I thought we had sorted it in the last three matches with them supporting the back four defensively? However, tonight we went back to playing a more attack minded game therefore sacrificing our defensive play in the last few games. It may be down to Spurs being much better than our last 3 opponents or that we were just knackered playing mostly the same players in all these games? Perhaps a bit of both? Hodgson will need to sort it for the West Brom match even if it means playing for a 0.0 and perhaps sneaking a win against the run of play?
