On a positive note, if we win next week we will be 10 points ahead even if we lose on Monday, However again this is papering over the cracks, the real issue is chronic lack of investment in squad recruitment. Even Liverpool today are being accused of the same thing and this is Liverpool. Of course we can’t cope with all of these injuries but this is not the first season that this has happened. I’m praying that we stay up and a close shave with relegation gives the club a kick up the ass and this summer can act as a huge turning point in our clubs fortunes. Maybe we could sell Sakho back to Liverpool for £28m. They are short of centre backs and we owe them following our transfer history with the club.

Hopefully the management were competent enough to understand that in 2021 many players contracts would expire at the same time, and had a strategy in place for the eventuality. One thing I can say with confidence, taking performances into consideration, is that if contracts are extended for this same set of players and manager we will almost certainly be relegated next season. So what's the alternative given that PL survival is a means to an end?

Standing still for next season (which ironically is about all our players will be good for next year), makes us an almost nailed on certainty for relegation (provided of course we escape this season).

Will certainly lose tomorrow and Fulham will be our first six pointer. Can't see us mustering any other points till WBA and Sheffield and even then only if wilf s back Very difficult times ahead after 8 years of no more ambition than survival in top flight .

It pains me to say it, but we will lose to Brighton who are full of confidence against a team that are shot and cannot compete physically. Only hope is to flood the midfield and protect the defence whilst playing one up top (Ayew - at least we know he’ll track back to help out).

Aside from Sheffield Utd and possibly WBA we have looked the weakest team in the last couple of weeks, but if we can beat both those teams and avoid defeat against Fulham that should see us safe. Newcastle, like ourselves, have been beset by injuries and the loss of Wilson until April is about as significant as us losing Wilf. Nevertheless, there have been signs in recent weeks that with the new coach onboard they should still have enough to get enough points on the board, plus they should have Wilson fit for the key final two games against Sheffield Utd and Fulham. The only question mark is whether Bruce feels the pressure and resorts to negative football again, as they looked worse than us when they were playing that way (yes, I know our results against them suggest otherwise, but really we should have won the first game and they should have won the second!) In the unlikely event Brighton lose against us they suddenly look in a precarious position again. They have to face 5 of the current top 6 in their last 9 games, so they will be looking at the coming games against us, WBA, Southampton, and Newcastle as games they have to take points from to secure safety. They look like the best team in the bottom half though, so I think they'll be fine providing the goals don't dry up again. The main thing for us is we don't lose to Fulham. They have played some nice football, but they just seem to lack that added bite. After us you look at their fixtures and you can't see where the wins will come from aside from possibly Burnley and Newcastle. It's a funny season though, as Liverpool have shown, so who knows what will happen.

One other thing to bear in mind is what is a tough run of matches ? Yes Liverpool, Spurs Arsenal Man Utd ,Us and Fulham have to play .But these teams are not what they were and points can be picked up now in these matches, for us and Fulham Etc With 5her3 injuries and European ambitions. Just Saying ?
