Lads we all know what we'll get in these next 5 games. I know we all love the Palace and watching them is a drug but is it really worth putting ourselves through this pain in the next few weeks? If you really want to watch football rest of the season I suggest Atalanta, they play excellent attacking football and will remind you why this sport can be so fun to watch, even on TV during lockdown. Just don't force yourselves through 90 mins of Royball...

I couldn’t bring my self to watch this even being free on TV. I’m done, much like the team. Going through the motions nothing else, absolute garbage from the top down.

I share your utter disgust at what I have seen today and I certainly share your concerns about our prospects next season.
NO positives to be taken from today at all.A disgraceful performance.

Then maybe Willo after seven seasons in the Prem - and your continuous predictions that we’re going down every season will finally come true and in the 8th season you’ll be able to tell us all - “I told you so”..!!

Meantime I’ll take some satisfaction that we are safe for another season in our most successful period in the top flight ever.

Individual mistakes are one thing but the whole team looks disinterested and unmotivated. For that, you can only look at one person. Same team, same tactics and same (lack of) subs every week. It’s boring as as f**k to watch and I assume it must be boring as f**k for the players to play the same restricted game every week.

This is it.

With respect, I will not be gloating if we are relegated and I am proved right.

This is it.

They go on about how Hodgson takes every training session.

Worked out well for England that one.

Playing to a system is fine but it’s restrictive. I remember reading a quote about Jeff Schlupp and that they liked him because he did his job in the system above all else. Same with Ayew - the focus on what he brings defensively:

The issue seems to come on our attacking side: We don’t score from set pieces, there is no pace to the attack and we seem totally unwilling to play anything other than the same way against every opposition. Hodgson is stubborn, that’s a plus and a minus.

Hodgson can blame lack of players but every club he’s ever been at plays the same way and signs similar players. Our squad is stronger than a good half dozen, the issue seems to be we are happy to stifle a player’s qualities for the sake of the system. He could have Messi, Ronaldo and Benzema up front and we would still
focus on keeping it tight and they would be instructed to defend from the front.

Are arsenals academy players that much better than our 18 year olds.
We will never know under roy but arsenal management are prepared to take a chance on theirs.
Is roy really that afraid to be proved wrong ,or even right if it goes south. I dont get it tbh.

Arsenals academy players are better, they play at a better standard in Category 1, whilst we play the dredges in 2. This is down to Jordan dismantling the academy.
A number of ours have been loaned out and not set the world alight and just faded away. If there not good enough in League 2, why would Roy put them in the first team.

It's encouraging that players like Mitchell and Pierrick are in the squad and I would definitely give the latter some game in Roy's shoes but (as I understand), the u23s were bottom of their league so not much to suggest there is much strength there ?

I don't follow it that closely so happy to be enlightened.

It was telling that when Leicester lost Chilwell they moved to a back three despite having a very good replacement left back in Christian Fuchs on the bench.
This tactical change assisted in Leicester gaining control in the second half and Allbrighton was influential in a left wing back role.
Could anybody in their wildest dreams see Hodgson attempting such a manoeuvre?
Instead we get like for like substitutions, although it could be argued that they made us even more defensive.
Hodgson never changes our team shape to pose a different set of problems to the opposition.

I had to go to work half way through added on time and have just had a chance to hear Roy's post match interview on the Beeb. He says he didn't think we played that badly against Burnley and today. Good heavens! If that isn't playing badly, I would hate to see us when we do. Playing like we are we will lose every game until the end of the season. He has to do something about this quickly.

Off the top of my head I remember his fourth game against Chelsea when he played Zaha and Townsend up front after Benteke had injured his knee and we beat them 2-1 which was a massive game. A few games later he was getting slagged for only playing 442.

A late Sako sub against Watford that resulted in two injury time goals.

We've lost the speed of Wan Bissaka which is huge in terms of the way the team sets up and stops us from playing further up the pitch.

If the biggest criticism of Roy revolves around the use (or lack of) of Meyer, Riedewald and Pierrick then I think his critics are undermining their own argument.
