If we have our customary good end to the season 50 points is not out of the question.

But he did make an exquisite pass to Ayew for the goal.
I would not give him a rating of 8 but he did play his part in our wonderful victory.

Benteke is far better approaching and inside the box without it congested with 6-9 opponents in there where he takes those silly pussy steps before making a mess of his shot or non shot or pass. And that isn’t helped by us not exploiting the opponents’ midfielders being turned around. We will probably do more of this now we’re almost safe but next season revert back to relying on getting the first goal in a percentage of matches while the shareholders take the p1ss and wait for a buyer, and Hodgson doesn’t make a strategic change until late February or April 2021, let alone a 2nd half.

It astonishes me that people can’t see how valuable Benteke is. Yes, he’s not scoring enough but everything else he does is brilliant. Wins headers, not least when we are defending corners, holds the ball up and offers us an option to go long. Someone called his ball to Ayew a lucky pass. He looked up, saw Ayewwas free and stuck it on a plate. Assist of the season. Meanwhile, I saw a poll on Twitter last night claiming Van Aanholt had played better than Benteke. Beyond belief.

I can't help thinking that if we had two players confident on the ball, in possession and able to bring it forward we would have the makings of a decent team.

As it is we have little vision or confidence on the ball and our forwards are always looking for scraps, so we don't score many goals particularly from open play.

Forget the euphoria about beating Brighton, our defence was good but everything else was very, very poor. We were outplayed by a team with superior ball playing skills who couldn't finish.

We will need to be a lot better against Watford

Great result. Ratings: Guiata 6, Ward 3, Dann 7, Cahill 7, Van Aanholt 3, McCarthy 6 (Jairo 6), Kouyate 6, McArthur 8; Ayew 4, Benteke 8, Wilf 7.

Agree, great result, but did u watch the game? The whole back 5 played out of their skins with Dann/Cahill on top, much due (I think) to the confidence our Spanish POTY Guaita brings.
Benteke miss in 5th min qualified to the substitute bench, but YES, his assist was top drawer. Though no more than you should expect from a striker with his wages and experience.

Our rear guard was good but Guiata is always top dog for me. Benteke had a decent game but he was not our best player on the field and as for Wilf ... I just hope he turns up one week!

Can you imagine where we would be if we took half the chances we create, for me Tekkers assist yesterday was brilliant.

You can say that about most teams. Brighton for one.

Benteke could do with some psychological counselling I reckon. His anxiety in front of goal is tangible. But he can fecking pay for it himself.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Just as believable as you giving Ayew 4 and Benteke 8. I like Benteke, he is getting better, but you think he played better than Cahill and Dann.

Sort of makes your rating suspectly bias.

Benteke looks like he has the football equivalent of the yips like in golf or darts
