However, I’m no master tactician and I felt on balance of play we were good enough to win. We might have been overrun in midfield if Meyer/Camarasa started - we’ll never know. We looked comfortable second half and it felt like the second goal was coming. In hindsight, you’re probably right that a creative midfielder may have made the difference. Didn’t cross my mind at the time though because we were so on top. This is exactly my point GM. We were on top in terms of territory and the spaces we were creating but didn't have the nouse to take advantage of it. The change needed seemed blindingly obvious to me. This is where it comes down to the management and the coaching staff. Natural ability will only get you so far. For what it's worth I thought we looked very good out of possession today, very well defined shape, good communication between the players. That all went to pot in the last 10 minutes (PVA I'm looking at you). Edited by Alex1991 (22 Sep 2019 10.27pm)

People get much too carried away with 1 result. We were the better side for the whole second half even when they had 11 men. The 2 chances Schlupp and Benteke missed were criminal at this level plus we had endless balls around the box were the final pass was shocking. We were also the better team for the first 20 odd minutes with them controlling the last 25 of first half. Our problem is our finishing and final ball around the box and this has nothing to do with Roy's tactics. We played Wolves who are a very very good side who will take points of most teams in the divison. It was poxy to lose that goal so late but not all doom and glooom.

We should have been home and hosed without a creative centre midfielder but I would love to see Camarassa or Meyer start a game in midfield at home just so we can see it in action.

The movement in and around the box is appalling. The players should know where to make runs, and the player in possession should know where they are going to be. It is so blatantly obvious that isn't the case. How many times did Wilf get free on the right today, and how many times did he have a viable option in the box ?

Didn't get to watch the game live today so just caught up on MOTD. That equalising goal. Zaha obviously ballsed up getting caught in possession and Ward had a howler trying to head the cross out. However, it looked to me like PVA actually moves out of the way of the cross. If he has its unforgivable at a moment he should have been throwing his body in the way to block that ball. Watch it back, does anyone think he bottles it or am I reading it wrong?
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

The problem is, by bringing on Benteke we’re effectively going down to 10 men.

I'm in the Holmesdale so couldn't see it properly but it's irrelevant frankly, we shouldn't have been holding on to the game at that point.

Benteke is the most frustrating player to watch. His positional play was appalling. He has no fight. He is soooo lazy. Hardly ever sprints.

You may well be right but Zaha is getting the blame for losing the ball when - if - Benteke had not taken so long to pass it to him he was free to run on to the ball and may well have taken it to the corner - game over.
