Johnson beat Livingstone. Twice. In London. I despise the man and only backed him because of Brexit but he does have something about him that enables him to beat real lefies. How he might have done against a Blair like character, a different story. Yes he's one of the few characters in UK politics really. I have my reservations too as I'm not convinced politically he really believes in anything, but he's tasked with the job now, and if the exit poll is accurate nothing is standing in his way to enact those manifesto promises.

That's a good point. I do think Corbyn received fairly horrendous negative press coverage across the board really, but the added aspect of Boris being an eccentric character and larger than life figure, does paint a certain narrative. The problem with May is that due to her awkward nature it made it hard to really be a cheerleader for her.
I'd also say that some of the criticism Corbyn got was pretty out there.....Johnson got it too....but I didn't expect people on Twitter saying a vote for Corbyn was like a vote for Hitler. I can't stand the man but.....no, it's not....feck's sake. Edited by Stirlingsays (12 Dec 2019 10.38pm)

Interesting thought around a CON (apt) majority potentially contributing to an even closer deal with the EU due to hardcores being less relevant in getting things through. Would be amusing. I’d also be amazed if there isn’t yet another extension deep into 2021. Anyone taking watermelon smiles at face value is massively naive. And or a fanatic.

Labours plan to rig the franchise for future elections seems pretty autocratic to me and the crack down on freedom of speech should those w***ers have rocked up in number 10 would have turned very nasty. And Corbyn would happily appear on platforms with people who cheered on the Holocaust.

BBC predicting a majority of 86 for the Tories which is on the high side of all the forecasts I have seen in this campaign. It is only a forecast so I am not counting my chickens and even if correct I don't feel like celebrating or rubbing other peoples noses in it. This is democracy at work, you state your case and let the people decide. I suspect my feeling will be one of relief that we can start the process of Brexiting and getting on with governing the country. What this means for Labour is too early to tell hopefully a new leader and more moderate policies but they could just dig in and lurch even further to the left, who knows. Anyway lets see tomorrow if the 86 is correct.

They say you end up with the government you deserve. The country has swallowed the "rich get richer and the poor get poorer" mantra hook, line and sinker, sold to them by the lowest rent snake oil salesman of them all. This is about much more than Brexit. A sh*t opposition led by a leader less credible than even Michael Foot. I hope you don't all come to regret this, I really do.
