Local elections this week and they say Conservatives will take a battering, losing around 100 councils, this is usually electoral opinion on the incumbent government

With that in mind they haven't got a cat in hells chance of winning a General Election?

You know full well that local elections have little bearing on General elections.

That said, any Trot, I mean Corbyn fan should be very nervous if the Tories don't get battered.

Correct.

Many Tory activists and donors have also downed tools. For May an Co it's not do they lose but by how much. I suspect that many Tory voters will stay at home.

I expect Labour to do well but will more people vote Labour or the same as 4 years ago the difference being Tory voters staying at home. If Labour increase the number of voters that is a cause for them to celebrate. If the number is fairly static then Labour should be concerned.

If you can't increase your voters with a government as incompetence as this one boy do you have problems. A General Election is a very different beast and the Tories will have a new leader by then.

Pundits always make the comparison between local elections and the GE and it is a waste of time. Local elections tend to be a protest vote against the government. People may not vote the same way when it matters.

Have you ever been involved in the visa process?

The level of investigation that takes place is mind blowing. No doubt the level of lying from some matches it.

This is not a simple matter. No doubt you would want to ban everyone from certain countries or who hold a particular religion but we open a huge can of worms if we go down that road.

I have! Worked for 3 years as a visa officer on the sub-continent. The level of investigation is nowhere near the levels it was, most visas are processed on paper (in the UK) and therefore it is impossible to make in-depth enquiries anymore. The level of deceipt is staggering from the young to the old and you can obtain most types of certificates/documentation without any problem. Somewhat morbid, I know, but I have my own "genuine" death certificate which has passed all forgery examinations as being genuine.

Can you direct me to that part of the thread

When I have worked in Muslim countries there were calls to prayer every day.

Friday is the main religious day for Muslims, Wisbeach did not appear to know this.

Our Conservative Council has done quite well so I'm happy to vote for them again in the local elections. If we get as far as the European elections I will vote for the Brexit Party as a sign to the Government that Brexit means Brexit
