I'd say we were worthy winners today. Their keeper made two or three good saves to keep out luka (though we got the penalty in the same move) and Benteke in the second half. Giauita didn't really have a save to make.

If the Benteke shot (second half, left foot) goes in, the game is dead already and we maybe get a third as they over commit after, but we were never under pressure really.

I'm delighted with the win, if not the way we achieved it, but a win and 3 points nevertheless. Well done Roy and well done lads. We're safely in the Premiership for another season for sure.

However, I agree with the sentiments expressed by Mathers a few posts back about Mateta. He scored 'that' goal and we haven't seen him since. I was really hoping to see him, at least for part of today's game. I may have missed it, but I've not seen an explanation.

Oh well, I'm off to open a bottle. Goodnight all.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I watched the second half of the Newcastle / Villa game yesterday which was crap. Until the crowds come back and the games ae more evenly spread like they used to be they will be more of the same.

This is a fair point. There's no doubt that empty stadiums have had an adverse impact on the way games are being played.

f***ing hell. All I see in this forum is whine whine whine. Oh, we won the game, whine whine whine.

This is so toxic. We are now a top-50 football team in the world. And all you want is to gamble that on a vegas roulette-wheel.

Jesus christ! Unfortunately I cannot pick my supporters.

I thought it was a s*** game but no Premier League points come easy and West Brom have managed to pick up points at Liverpool and Man City and only lost to United by a twice taken penalty.

They bullied us a bit in the middle and and our forwards and midfield players didn't retain the ball well enough.

Big Sam's plan seemed to be to niggle and hope that one of their many free kicks or speculative long range crosses would fall right but they didn't ultimately have the quality on the couple of occasions it did.

Kouyate and Cahill immense again IMO.

Missed the game today but how did Connor Gallagher play ? As we have been linked with him.

He did but spent a fair bit of the game throwing himself on the floor and blinked when he had a couple of decent chances.

I've not made a habit of watching West Brom this season but Efan Ekoku suggested he'd been wasteful in a few of their games.

So your point is that we should have been more attacking against a team that picked up points against Liverpool and Man City?

What is your point, other than whine?

No, the point I was making is that any win is decent and West Brom aren't as easy to beat as people suggest. Like you I admire what Roy has done but I think you should fvck off now to be honest.
