Fortunately for many in here Willo’s hunches have to be proved notoriously unreliable, both on the team being relegated and also games being lost.
I ,for one, take comfort from this latest hunch.

Some might say a broken clock is an apt adage in the context of what’s being discussed!

He's not going to be the only one. Even people highly supportive of Roy can see that new blood and new ideas are needed next season. If that news is broadcast, I fear for my phone, TV and Windows.
Premier league managers kind of run their course over a few seasons and I think Roy has run (ambled) his.

I have actually been in communication with those highly supportive of Mr Hodgson and whilst they appreciate that the squad needs some 'Freshning up', the "Ideas" that have worked in keeping us in the PL should not be jettisoned for a different approach which brings with it an element of risk.

Sometimes major investors and supporters have differing perspectives and the protection of investments by a continuation in the PL with it's global reach and profile is paramount.

When I worked in an office I would cycle 2/3 times a week. It pretty much rained every day I chose. Colleagues asked which day I proposed to bike it so they could dress appropriately.

You will forgive me if I take the same opposite view of your prognostications.

A smorgasbord of opinions and prognostications is all part of the rich tapestry of HOL.
You are forgiven!

Cahill staying wouldn’t be the worst news. Hope he gets a coaching role too.

Rumours are that Cahill and Dann are being offered new deals. Can understand Cahill after Monday but not Dann. Hope this doesn’t mean we will not be looking at a young CB

It makes me laugh a little when supporters , don’t want to be compared ,or have the club compared to , what it was started Charltons, slide.
To be accurate their situation would apply as much to Brighton , as us , if the quality aspect was taken into account. But the situation regarding our position in the league is so much the same it’s totally comparable. And it’s completely comparable in so much as the fans are bored with what looks like no progress. The danger of all this is that we should do as Charlton, did and employ a manager that has nothing in his CV to suggest he could be a better option than the present incumbent, that given the true capacity of the club to supply the needs of the majority of managers with known proven form, not to go backwards, or stand still, but to genuinely improve , the all round standard of play, proved with points in the bag. And not just getting a nice but dim image for the club, stuck just above the relegation line. I for one don’t think Howe, would be our answer. We will need someone that has no problem with being ugly when it’s needed . I don’t see that in Howe.

Too true Willo. Our investors in the US, namely, Harris, Blitzer and the other (unknown to me) investors within their consortia are likely to take a dim view of anyone fiddling with what they probably see is a tried and trusted formula - "give Hodgson another year and some money (perhaps £15-25 million this summer) for some new young players so that we can continue to rake in all that PL money". Wages, should be lower next year even if we retain one or two of the higher earners (I wouldn't be surprised if Benteke gets a new reduced contract - we'll need more than just Mateta, Zaha (if he stays) and Ayew) - I'm assuming we will choose NOT to take up the option on Batshuayi.

I just don't see a major clear out - too risky and too expensive. 2 or 3 new younger players in the key areas of need, a couple of loans and perhaps one of our own youngsters promoted to the first team squad. There is, of course, the question of which players choose not to renew if offered. PvA is the only one that seems to be on his way out.

Time, of course, will tell.

I want Roy replaced as well .But if you look around who is available and might be available? Its very hard to say they would do a good job ,especially the work that needs doing to our squad. Most managers have at least 1 bad season in 4 whoever it is ? Parish and board need to make sure they get this one right and stay with him .We can't afford another FDB situation.

Over 95% of clocks are digital. In 2021, only a tiny minority of broken clocks are right twice a day.

Therefore Roy should not be offered a new contract.

Cahill is a reassuring presence, not so much Scott Dann any more but he’s been a great servant. We do seem to be looking at younger players, possibly this lad Dragusin at Juventus.
