I'm not as annoyed with Roy tonight as I was on Monday, though I still want this to be our last season with him in charge.

To be perfectly honest I thought we were the better team today and he made exactly the substitutions I was asking for, for once. My only grievance is that I firmly believe that Jairo Riedewald is among our best players and have no idea why he is always the fall guy when we lose.

The reason I'm pissed off today is that we all said during the summer that we desperately needed to invest in another attacking, creative outlet (Sarr, Buendia, Benrahma etc etc) because we are too reliant on Zaha.

Yet once again we completely failed, were among the lowest spenders in the division for about the 100th consecutive transfer window and, what do you know? Zaha is out for a couple of games and we lose both without scoring.

Parish and the owners need to have a serious word with themselves about the direction of this club. We have serially overperformed given the age and ability of this squad and we're fortunate that we're still fairly clear of the relegation zone. If we continue to underinvest as we have, we will go down in the end. Simple as that.

West Brom next weekend is suddenly quite a big game. Win it and we're still relatively comfortable. Lose it and suddenly we're facing a run of eight games including fixtures against Spurs, Arsenal, Leicester, City and Liverpool which could easily drag us in to the relegation battle.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

It's not been a good week. Fine margins, we could of won both games, we created the chances.

I disagree. I hope he gets the handbrake back on and stops listening to folk.

We're conceding so late because the team are old, lacking in energy / quality.

completely agree. Add to that our centre backs are a bit slow and we get done over and over on the break.

Eze is just the start of revamping the team. Until we get two or three more young dynamic players, holding the edge of the box and playing on the break is how we have to play if we want to stay up.

I think we were slightly better than against Burnley and didn’t deserve to lose, although it was still a desperately poor display for the first hour.
What should happen now...
Stop messing about with the old boys and get Tomkins and Sakho back together.
Dump Townsend unless injuries force us to play him.
Start with Jairo every time.
Start with Benteke every time.
Put Wilf back on the right. He will link up well with Clyne.

Team v WBA
Guiata; Clyne, Tomkins, Sakho, Schlupp; Zaha, Kouyate, Riedewald, Eze; Benteke, Ayew.
That = three points and we are back in business.

I’m sorry, but Hodgson should have gone at the end of last season. This team was unbalanced with players out of position. Players playing that shouldn’t have been, namely Townsend and Dann. Doesn’t matter that keeper makes good saves or we miss easy chances. Newcastle were there for the taking and will get beaten well by many prem sides. We are awful and lost at the moment. Zaha may have made a difference but we can’t rely on one player. Hodgson should have gone at the end of last season and I’m fairly sure he won’t go and we will se lots of tonight to come :-(

Absolutely agree with this. How many times did Eze get the ball, look up and see no movement? Average age over 30, team are tired and can't last a whole match. Depressing to watch.
Big summer for Parish. Most of this squad out of contract, get rid of the old has beens and get some quick hungry youngsters in.
What id do for us to have a James Maddison type creative player.

The last two games have emphasised what an extremely average squad we have. The senior management ie Parish and Freedman would prefer to retain the mediocrity than build ( are we really offering Benteke another contract, Wickham etc etc).

1, we are at home and rely on a team attacking us.
2, we are very boring to watch.
3, whats happened to the passion we had we had with player that were nobody's from the lower leagues, atleast when we lost home or away wemwe saw there hurt now nothing, they laugh in training all fun and games, the only ones the hurt is us, another weekend stuffed. 🔴🔵

Look on the bright side. Now we can go more defensive.

It's a worry, we definitely need a new approach and outlook. A new manager too!? The likes of Sheffield Utd and Westbrom are performing so woefully that we're likely safe this year even if we have a disaster, so forming a two year plan might be the best way to proceed.
