We are stale. Old management (they've done their job but nothing radical will happen under their watch). Old playing staff (not their fault but again they are limited in what they can bring). Old stadium (as much as I love it we are way behind most clubs in the premier league and championship).
These aren't new problems, we've flat lined as a club. Roy will be in charge this season but we must have change in mind in all departments otherwise we will eventually go down. The excitement and buzz around the club has been replaced by a morbid foreboding.
It's not the end for us, far from it but there has to be more from the club in terms of planning for the immediate future.

First half although not being able to attack much due to Chelsea's tactics we played well enough to be 0-0, second half none of our players can be criticised for the mistakes made by Sakho can they and none can be criticised for the professional fouls on our players through the midfield can they.

Other mid-table teams have good days and bad days. This year we have played well in 3 games and had a bad one today. Much better than last season which was basically consistent meh! Much rather what we have now.

Look, the time to criticise is if todays terrible performance continues against Fulham and Brighton.

Half, first half we defended brilliantly, second half we didn't and that was it, has anyone actually counted the amount of times Chelsea fouled Eze when he attempted to move forwards, it has become the norm now to stop teams with niggling fouls but today Chelsea outfought us in this department, they were very crafty and not stopped by the ref.

Please let’s be honest Chelsea were the better team by far, we were awful in every department. Desperately in need of investment in the team not one shot on goal!,

And wrighty said on motd what we all are saying, losing and 2 defensive midfielders off and 2 on, with benteke and Meyer on the bench, Palace need to attack more, so true everyone can see it!

It is going to be hard to take a weed mullering but I reckon it's coming if we play like that.

But doesn’t that sum up Roy’s tactics perfectly? We ‘defended well’ - nothing at all about attacking. Substitutes just replace like with like, doesn’t change it up, vary the tactics, change gear. I cannot recall the Chelsea GK having a save to make really.
Personally I’d get Eddie Howe in to work alongside him and take full control next season.

Having watched MOTD Sakho was even worse than I first thought. At fault for 3 of the goals, fat slow and uninterested.

Wrighty was spot on disappointing as we don’t attack teams nearly enough, with Meyer and Benteke on the bench and already losing we replace 2 DMs with.....2 DMs .....come on Roy !

Oh the clowns are out again.

Roy out! Where’s the attacking substitutions??

We played basically the same starting 11 as against United but included Eze so we were even more attacking. We got battered because Chelsea are much better than us and mainly because of shocking defending. Roy did not send that team out to play any differently than against United ?

So who’s at fault?

Have a look at our bench and tell me where these amazing attacking substitutes were sitting?

I’m not suggesting ‘Roy out’ but at 73 and with his contract due to expire at the end of the season, now might be a good time to start the transition. At least, that way, the new man could learn from him, get to know the players and both have a Jan window to consider things.
Tactically yesterday, bringing on like for like wasn’t, in my view, going to change anything.
And yeah, hindsight is easy, but I think fans are entitled to feel frustrated after a 4-0 defeat, especially following a win to Southampton, a great performance against Utd and an unlucky one against Everton.
What would I have done? God knows, you’re right on the depth so that may show the club something.
