“The club will pay Tosun’s £100,000-a-week wages, as well as a £1m loan fee. There is also set to be an option included to make the move permanent for a fee of £20m.”

None of us will ever know the exact amounts involved.

Where is this from?

I know dazza in the other said there was negotiation over a 10 million buy option at the end of the loan period but that Palace eventually agreed to 17. If it's 20 million, it sucks.

I think you have pointed out how much will cost. 21m plus wages.

i thought final fee if he stays is 17m?
( when the deal was done i remember thinking that we would "save" 10m on what he wouldve cost if he went to us and not Everton, and in sure they paid 27m for him?)

My understanding was it would be a £17m fee (equivalent to €20m Euros).

£17/20m for a player who has scored 10 in 2 & a half PL seasons. Scintillating. Think we'd do better keeping Sorloth, his record in Turkey is commendable.

As long as it isn't an obligation to buy then he has 6 months to prove he is worth whatever Everton have asked for and that he is worth £100k pw. I'm on the fence as it stands given his age, wage and previous PL form and unless he plays out of his skin I think this might just be a short-term thing. Here's hoping he proves me wrong.

Unless he scores a lot of goals between now and end of season I would rather not sign him. There is definitely better options out there and we have just been forced into taking him now due to it being January and our current lack of strikers. Same goes for Bats*** from Chelsea.

His movement up until Southampton was pretty good. He then didn’t get a touch of the ball, apart from skying it over the WH end because, well, we were utter shyte.

He’s only played 2 and a bit games isn’t it?

I wouldn't judge him on the Southampton game as he spent most of it chasing shadows. And yes, just two and a bit games. As I said, we have six months to get a balanced picture. It will cost us in the region of £3 million+ to get that picture, but at least it should be clearer!

I’m not sure how much we’ll see of Tosun when Townsend and Schlupp return.
Hodgson has said that he doesn’t plan on playing two up front which leaves one central striker role and Ayew seems to be a better fit for what Hodgson requires from a striker (hard work, first line of defence,
occasional goal).
On the assumption that Ayew and Zaha fill two of the forward positions and Townsend/Schlupp take the third position -as they did earlier in the season - this leaves Tosun competing with Benteke and Wickham for a central role if Hodgson does change his approach.
This assumes Carrasco/???? doesn’t join to complicate matters further!
