... back to the game.... (Or rather, the refereeing) IMHO, Taylor had a shocker. Bournemouth use the Ferguson Principle of taking one for the team. If ever a team look like breaking, they commit a cynical foul and risk a booking. And added to that, immediately block the chance of a quick free kick being taken. Added to that, Wilson looked to impede Guaita's distribution throughout. On one occasion in the second half, he grabbed at VG's arm to stop him releasing the ball yet got no more than a wagging finger from the ref. Every opportunity to book one of ours was taken but he was lenient and inconsistent with Bournemouth. There was a strong chant of "You don't know what you're doing" in the second half to suggest I may not be alone in thinking the bloke had either an agenda or a nightmare performance. once a ref sends a player off, fans will always say he doesn't know what he's doing. I probably joined in myself if it was sung. but when I sit back and analyse it, nothing that Taylor did was that awful. I'll join in with almost anything and if it pressures the ref, all good. giving them a corner when Wilson kicked it out was a bit daft, but he probably couldn't believe Wilson had been that s***. Other than that...meh. As for Bournemouth's approach...I think fouling a player who's breaking dangerously is imperative. I enjoy a 'good' foul committed by palace these days. especially if we don't get booked for it. lesser, niggly fouls are a bit dumb & poor strategy. and impeding Guaita -- thanks for that. waste every second you want.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

I most certainly will not. Sexism is unacceptable whether it's on the street or on an internet forum that's read by people of all genders. I'll call anyone out here on racism, homophobia, sexism, unbased intolerance of any kind. Just because you seem to think it's the middle ages doesn't make it ok. "According to my internet history, Palace, poker, and p***.graphy." Can I ask if you think that an interest in p***.graphy tarnishes your argument at all? Unless, of course, you are watching black gay men who can really really tolerate it? As for the game, what a result.

Other than the red card decision, the ref was fine. Tactical fouling to stop teams breaking and blocking the keeper from distributing the ball quickly are part and parcel of the professional game. I saw some stats recently that show Man City (surprisingly) were the biggest offenders of tactical fouling. When you're in and around the opposition box and lose possession, its usually a good tactic to go for a soft foul. Gives everyone a couple of seconds to get back into position and prevent a break, and in that of the field you're unlikely to get booked. I'm sure we do it as well but we all wear rose tinted specs.

you can be knocked off the ball without being tripped or pushed. Quite agree, but I was specifically talking about when a player is tripped or pushed. If he's knocked off the ball without being tripped or pushed, then presumably no foul has been committed. But having watched the Wilf incident several times, I personally have no doubt that he was pushed. And for what it's worth, I don't think he "went down easily", but even if he did, I think that's irrelevant.

You mean the self deprecating mention that nicely rounded it out as it began with P ? Who seriously admits to having an interest in p***.graphy on a football forum ? It was meant as a bit of light hearted p**s taking directed at myself. The fact that people on here are trying to pick holes in my profile, and aren't calling out offensive comments made by somebody is ridiculous.
