Leeds and Wolves have wealthy foreign owners with an ambition and vision for their club and, in Wolves case, a super agent involved with the ownership.

We on the other hand have a fragmented ownership, an ageing squad assembled expensively on long contracts three to five years ago, an ex player / manager in charge of recruitment, net spend of about two quid in the last three years and a reputation for being complete piss artists in the transfer window.

Bielsa and Santo my arse.

Sadly, you are spot on, this club has no ambition in the boardroom at the moment and we have two key stakeholders who want out!, until that is sorted we will just tread water. Getting new investors in is always going to be difficult as SP likes his celebrity status as PL chairman and wants to be in control. The latter is a major stumbling block to attracting bigger and more ambitious investors!

My view is that any potential investor will look at the fact that the stadium requires a significant upgrade and of course this comes with a hefty price. They are not walking into a Newcastle, for example, with a modern stadium which holds over 50,000.

Yes, you are also correct, there are many major factors that currently make us a toxic investment and of course all these combined make us unattractive to any ambitious progressive manager and i'm sure to some good players!

Hmm, so what do we do then. Just give up and wait until we are so uncompetitive that we get relegated, because the way we are playing currently, that time isn’t too far away.

yep, you are also correct it is very worrying, we have not really made a lot of progress as a club since we have been in PL and this is largely down to the poor investors we have, the Americans have made no secret that they want out and whilst SP wants to be in control it is a barrier to attracting new investors which we definitely need!

Wolves, Leicester, Southampton were all heavily critised by fans for investing too much in their new stadium which lead to them getting relegated. All are in a much stronger position now.

Bournemouth failed to invest anything and in the long term will regret it.

Palace and Burnley have both improved their training facilities and are looking to expand their stadium again. We don't know what the hold up with the main stand redevelopment is. All we know it's ever 1) Croydon Council or 2) Sainsbury's. I suspect it's the former being greedy wanting redeculous S106 agreements and replacement housing.

Our position in the PL since we were last promoted :

2013-14 : 11th
2014-15 : 10th
2015-16 : 15th
2016-17 : 14th
2017-18 : 11th
2018-19 : 12th
2019-20 : 14th

I suspect that some might conclude that this season being our 8th consecutive PL campaign is progress in itself.

so because we made one wrong appointment by trying to evolve our brand of football, we shouldn't do it again? I'm surprised at the amount of irrational thinking here, only seeing things in extremes - a boring safe manager or a forward-thinking on that will fail.

The majority of us fans will only know who we know manager-wise, likely a much smaller pool of talent than someone whose job it is to make the appointment. As with some of our player signings, CPFC will/should/I hope be looking much further afield in considering who to bring in next. How many had really heard of half the 'new breed' of managers in the Prem before they were hired? Just because you don't know them doesn't mean they don't exist. Too many people seem to think it's Roy or Dyche which madness.

Yes, some will say that but alas as a Club we have not progressed in our attractiveness, to some players and our record with Managers was not good until Roy arrived and installed some stability to the playing side of the club. As you say the Stadium needs urgent refurbishment, which is going to be expensive, however, most of all the current board are the problem, the American and Parish seem reluctant to invest more in the club and as I have already said the Americans want out. New investors if we can find them, will certainly want to have more control than I suspect Parish is prepared to give up. When you have unhappy investors you know from Sunderland and Wigan as recent example where that leads!

It seems that we hardly look outside the M25 for players so what makes you think we'd look further afield for a new manager.

Interestingly enough when Southampton appointed Pochettino he was a manager whose contract at his previous club Espanyol was terminated with the team bottom of the table.

He was some unknown in this country and many though that Southampton had taken leave of their senses appointing him to replace Nigel Adkins who had got them promoted. The rest as they say is history!
