All part of football's future plan, but it is surprising how few players from our academy make it to the top, so far anyway. We could do with one or two who don't need to go out on loan and all that, but are ready at 18 to take on the world. That's my dream tonight. There Was a stat in 2019 that only 180 of the 1.5m boys playing organised youth football in England will ever play a single minute in the Premier League. That's 0.012%.

Why the surprise ? I suppose because I was expecting more. Maybe surprise is the wrong word.

You moan and whine enough for everyone..nothing like looking at the bright side.... again, no one has any idea of whats going on internally at the club.... we have no idea what deals are being discussed, when they were discussed, who the discussions were with, why they are having the discussions. Honestly....whats the point in all the doom and gloom about stuff we have zero insight into it...we've played really well in the two games we've played and I'm hopeful for tomorrow and the season. If we sell all the young talent and are left with Ayew and Ward so be it. Originally posted by Nicholas91
On the BBC's thread they are printing all their interviews with managers ahead of the weekend's fixtures. Just about every one of them touches upon transfers, except for the interview with our manager, who just talks about Brentford, despite the fact we've only spent money on one player, an untried, untested youngster, who's injured. That's about all I can muster so far as a moan but it is a bit depressing if not infuriating.
Watching every game live on TV doesn't come close to the real thing..... COYP |

Rest of your post just nonsense too. Are you expecting some sort of virtue medal of parade for not caring? It’s a football forum FFS don’t try and hurl insults or derogatory statements at people if you’re looking for something to validate yourself. Only a slight upgrade from your usual racist and pro-Chelsea posts. Edited by Nicholas91 (26 Aug 2023 4.41am)
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

If this window has proved anything it is that absolutely NO-ONE is in the know. Also what’s happened to Ferguson? Roy doesn’t even refer to him and his injury in the pressers any more so has he, like the rest of us, given up on him? If that’s the case - get shot and free up some dough. It strikes me, though, that we’re desperate. Talk of Hazard, Draxler and the like shows a desperation. Where’s the striker and right back we’ve needed for years? Playing well and at a high intensity for the first couple of games only masks the lack of depth in the squad and lulls us into a false sense of security. The lack of a finisher was so clear in the Arsenal game. We should and could have put them to the sword and if Roy (judging by his presser) thinks Mateta is the answer then god help us. Take off Edouard and put the same player (only worse) on in his place. Dragging in a couple of older or injury prone players does little to enhance the squad and simply plugs a gap for the short term, whilst crushing the wage bill and preventing any proper signings. But I have faith. I still expect to see an exciting signing coming through the door and banging them in! Or a youngster coming in and doing the same. We love to say ‘he needs another year on loan in the championship etc’ about some of our promising youngsters. Really? Where did Joe Ferguson go on loan to before he broke into brightons side?

There are people outside the club who know what is going on but they don't use their privileged position to blab to the world. Whilst it is frustrating for us to not know who we are after I can understand the reasoning from a commercial point of view but it wouldn't hurt anyone if hints were dropped about people that were weren't interested in that the media / agents had just made up Originally posted by Helmet46

Is it the club who are desperate or the media who need something to print so just make stuff up or publish agent drivel Originally posted by Helmet46

That's why its so important for these young lads to continue their education in preparation for life after football. It was good to see the club announce they got good A levels. By all accounts Parish is a big believer in educating them and we have one of the best records for doing that.

According to click bait the Arse are looking to sell up to 11 players to fund their recent spending splurge. Let's hope there someone good we can pick up on loan to buy.

My guess for incomings? A striker, but only if Mateta leaves and probably Adams, Ihaenacho or similar. A goalkeeper, although my preference would be for Guiata to stay and be happy to stay (unlikely). A wide player, but possibly unproven and inexperienced at Premier League level. The key for me will be retaining all our good players as it seems inevitable that bid(s) will come in over the coming days.

I'm looking forward to the final day on sky again when they say excitedly, so lets go over to Jack merde at the palace training ground to see what's happening there! Jack Merde, says nothing Jeff, I'm the only one here as tumble weed passes behind him and the lights go out.
