Brilliant performance from the team today! Spurs were poor, but I think that shows how well our guys played, and stopped their game. Kane barely touched the ball. How much changes in 90 minutes, Zara starts the game his old snarling self, and all ends in smiles. He finally has some attacking talent around him, what a team we could have in a few weeks time when Eze is back! First time I have seen Gallagher, a great talent, he could be world class in a couple of seasons. Hope we get our years worth from him! Benteke didn’t look happy about coming off, and after Edouards first 8 minutes in a Palace shirt, I can see why! The defence still looks a bit suspect at times, so I can see a few goals being conceded. But compared to the negative tactics over the last few years, I’m excited by what this team can offer. COYP! First PL game ever that Kane has had no shots and no touches in opposition box. Wonder if media will pick up on that? Perhaps had he not been complaining all game he might have remembered why he was there

Gallagher was crying out to Ward to pass the ball forward to him several times when in a dangerous position. He failed to do so on each occasion. On a good day Ward gets by but he has little vision and attacking flair. Originally posted by crystal-purley
The back four had a superb game and Wardy just edged the others although Guehi and Andersen have a brilliant partnership.

Blimey, it's one win. Today was great, and I'm up for the gamble of changing style, but the simple fact is that Hodgson didn't have this group of players (or one comparable to it) to work with, so we'll never know what he might have done. Not sure they would have joined a Roy team and not sure he would have wanted them

I enjoyed the performance every bit as much as anyone else. I was worrying after the sending off that it was going to be one of those games! When everything is going right, except the one vital thing. We were missing chance after chance, so I feared Spurs might sneak another 1-0 with their only shot on target. But the penalty changed that, and left them open for the second and third. The negatives about Roy though disappoint me. He did his job. Which was to keep us in the league whilst Parish did his. Roy is as much part of today's success as anyone else, and we need to pay tribute to him. Absolutely right! (but good for us, that we've moved on from RH is seemingly (early days) in a positive direction).

Just got back home after the game and for the first time in a very long time I’m very happy with a win and the performance. It was exciting, high tempo and a pleasure to watch, it’s like PV has taken the handbrake off.

Those that watched on TV was it a penalty? Linesman gave it. Why were Kane and Alli arguing both were nowhere near the incident, continued to argue after VAR

I have not felt so optimistic after watching a match in many years. The new centre backs are fantastic together and give a real calm to the back 4, and you can see how this has transformed Mitchell. Zaha looked like he has finally stopped stropping and maybe he can achieve European football by staying with us. Gallagher is a fantastic addition add looks like he will go on to bigger and better things. McCarthur brings the experience and even Luka managed a wonder pass when he came on that I never knew he had in him. Edouard looks like he could be what we have been missing for years, a natural goalscorer and Olise showed glimpses of his class even within a few minutes of coming on. With Eze and Ferguson in the wings and a very strong bench I really think we could have a great season and top 8 is certainly possible. Cant wait to see how we play next week. Will be a big test, but I think we will give them a good game. What a great feeling, long may this continue..
Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs. |

Got home after jungle running & heavy beers to see Palace had slaughtered the team top of the table. Didn;t bother coming home in pouring rain to watch it as I thought we'd lose.

So indulge me - you seriously think Ward at this stage of his career (I’ve already accepted that he has previously been a great servant) is a premiership standard right back..?? Beyond that given the class and ability we now have in the squad - he is at that level and tell me how and why..?? Simple question just needs a simple answer..!! Don’t dance around other posters this is about my opinion and yours..!! I’ll freely admit I think Ward is way passed his best, and has been for a few seasons and that we should have replaced him in the summer - in fact should have replaced him the moment AWB left - that’s what 2 seasons ago..!! Let’s be honest - he wasn’t good enough when AWB came into the side as an unproven youngster - now all of a sudden what 4 seasons later and 4 years older in a much better squad he’s at that/this level - do me a favour..!! But football is all about opinion and this site is about reasoned debate so from that perspective within reason everyone’s point of view is valid..!! I’ll leave it with I’ll guarantee if Ward remains in situ (which he won’t) he’ll cost us far more than he will benefit us and will become a liability - if he isn’t that already..!! COYP

Great servant but this team and squad is way above his ability and capabilities..!! COYP Funny how all our recent managers have kept faith with him isn’t,iit.Early on today he misplaced a few passes as did other players like Jimmy Mac but thought he had a good game.He has and is a fantastic servant of our club and knows how to defend which is the basic principle of a right back.
