I would be surprised if any big club will buy him, his age, form and temperament put them off, the best he can hope for is a club similar to us, i would say his value is about 25m max

Wilf needs to lower his wage demands and hope that a (slightly) bigger club will offer £40 million for him (on a good day he's worth about that). If he stays and doesn't pull his weight, I'm sure PV will bench him until he does.

I hope someone comes in and gives him his "opportunity" and we get some money to reinvest in the team. another opinion is that hes the star players and top scorer last season so maybe he is worth the wage. if he scored 10 goals before xmas then surely he is (in your eyes) worth his wage again. ive said it before, but if wilf played like he could, every game he wouldnt be with us he would be winning titles earning double his current wage. he isnt perfect, far from it…but is “our” non perfect best ever player, and for that…i wont knock him, or what he earns for being the difference in us staying up or not each season.

Wilf is 28 (29 in November) and won't have any significant resale value to any prospective buyer, whereas White should be in his prime in 2 to 3 years and should, therefore at least retain his value should Arsenal subsequently decide to sell him.

I also think the gap of 53k a week to the next highest earner could be a problem amongst team mate if he doesn't perform and continually moans, a swap with arsenal Wilf for Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock is ideal if arsenal want him, i seriously think if a few more of the rumored signings happen and Eze is fit again he will struggle to get in the team, also we will lose him, Schlupp, Kouyate and Ayew to the African nations for a month in Jan/Feb

Totally agree with this. It’s no co-incidence that we picked up more points last season when Wilf was playing well. When he went quieter after Christmas so did our form. We have no-one else who comes close to opening up the last third of the pitch as Wilf can.

It’s just a shame that by putting himself up for sale every close season, he is letting the club, the fans, his team mates, know he thinks he is to good for us. It’s ironic , that was the taunt we fans used to direct to the opposition. But it is the fact of the matter.. Just wondering how you know Vieiras view on the situation, has he publically commented.

We have no-one else who comes close to opening up the last third of the pitch as Wilf can. I'm not sure I agree with that anymore. By the end of the season once Eze moved into a more central position and found his confidence he was pulling the crown off Wilf's head. He was the man beating defenders like they weren't there; he was the one threading through inch-perfect passes; he was the one creating and scoring goals. Olise looks like a player who is going to want to fight for the limelight too, so if Wilf stays, for the first time since peak Bolasie, he may no longer be the star in six months time. Having said that, I still think a fully-focused Wilf can be our star man, but anything less and he might have to getting used to being subbed. I'm starting to feel excited about the forthcoming season and I really hope that excitement isn't undone by the needs and demands of one player, however important he may have been to us over the last decade.
