Good performance tonight with much more energy and passion this recent weeks. Notably Wardy and McArthur were bang on it.

Infuriating we have the three donkeys to up front. Benteke’s 1st touch is like he’s playing with a beach ball, Ayew does everything right until he gets in the box then f***s it up and Batshuayi can’t be trusted not to be offside so never gets a game. If we had a half decent striker we probably would have beaten a very lacklustre Arsenal.

Yep and frankly our striking issue has been an issue ever since promotion. The best striker we had in that time was Murray who we decided was too old and flogged. He then went on to score 12 and 13 goals for Brighton in the Premier League three seasons later!

You can even argue that we historically are useless at recruiting strikers with the exception of a few very rare exceptions (Wright, AJ, Murray, Morrison, Freedman)

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Agree 100%.Presume giving Benteke another contract means will at least get something for him, otherwise he will go for a free ,"Truth be know that's all he is worth"

I'm truly baffled by people who were unhappy with last night's performance. I don't think there was one bad performance on the pitch, with some players like Ward, Bentenke and Mitchell perhaps having their best games of the season. People saying that Arsenal were there for the taking seem to be ignoring the fact that if we'd committed more men forward then it would have opened up space that we refused to let Arsenal have. I think you could give MOTM to almost any of our players.

On a side note the one thing I found really frustrating was Arsenal's incessant fouling every time we got in their half, especially of Wilf. Xhaka and Luiz both did intentional nasty ones on Wilf that were clearly intended to hurt him, but which were cute enough that they wouldn't get done for it (one stamping on his foot the other hacking him down and kneeing him in the head). It seems Arteta has taken the Man City book of how to stop counter-attacking teams.

Good assessment - Thought that was for the first time in a long while a terrific 11 man performance. Zaha like Grealish gets no support from referees. It seems if you have flair we won’t bother giving a yellow to the opposing player if you are deliberately tripped or kicked or even trod on - grrr!

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Most of us would have so it's like I'm gutted I didnt take tux advice years ago ffs.
Still a good point though

I think it's irrelevant whether I'd take a point prior to kick off. We should judge ourselves by our application and performance, as opposed to the opposition. I understand the need to temper expectations (I too dread a return to the Championship), but there is no need to maintain a small club mentality after eight successive seasons in the top flight.

I don't fear any club in the PL any more. I know we're capable of winning against any opposition, just as weare of losing to any. I don't judge results by the quality of opposition, I judge them by the performance. I would take much more pleasure in a hard-fought win against the league's bottom side than a fortunate draw against the league's top side.

Simply, we don't need to be apprehensive of expecting a bit more from the team - not in a deluded sense like West Ham fans - but in a constructive way that shows the team that they are capable of going further and breaking into the top 10.

Yes it was a good performance all round by the team especially in the first half. We don’t seem to always produce the first half performance in the second half this could be due to the age of the squad, substitutions are not made earlier or frequently enough or the bench is poor. Certainly bringing on Ayew didn’t add anything to the performance and Benteke shouldn’t have been subbed. The other reason is we are not able to retain the ball because we have not replaced Cabaye.

Marrina, has little time for Wilf, remember Southampton . I don’t like acting in football . But if Wilf had acted spark out. VAR might have seen that knee of David’s as a red card.
Refs like Marrina, are an enormous help to tactics like Arsenals, under the pretence of letting the game flow without stoppage , any amount of light touch infringement is ignored.
palace played really well last night . Just the same old problem no goal. Benteke, had a good game in general , keeping ball and bringing others in to attacks, not a natural in the box finisher though

You only realise just how good Cabaye was when you look at our stats with him in the team and without. Fantastic player and you are right, we haven’t got close to replacing him. I am wondering if Tufan could do the job, it appears he is highly rated in Turkey although there are bang average strikers who do well out there!

We did well against a team that are actually in the same part of the table as us. I fear that Man City will be a different proposition. It will be more like playing Liverpool. Before last night I had hoped for one point from these two matches. Now we have banked it, another would be great but I am not getting my hopes too high.

A very good performance from the majority of our players last night although I thought on the ball Townsend was poor but couldn’t fault his work rate in closing down space.I wish Wilf would stop complaining and get on with his job of trying to score goals.I hope all the people who keep calling Joel Ward a Championship defender change their minds as I thought he was superb last night.

All clubs have the same issue with strikers. It's like finding a needle in a haystack that everyone is churning through.

We've got lucky 4 times in 30 years with Wright, Armstrong, AJ, and Murray.

AJ and Murray didn't look great in their first season and Armstrong was crap in the premiership.

You just need to keep turning over all the stones until you get lucky.
