Everyone, fans, football pundits etc, said he was unlucky to get a red apart from the dick in black!

This is what you get when you let a load of pc snowflakes run the game. Political knees, no contact at headers. Soon to be no headers. Whether we like it or not, both headers warranted a yellow card in the new rules. If you touch another player with your arms raised you get booked. That’s the rules. Beats me why their man didn’t get booked as well. His arms were also raised and touché Benteke. Difference is Benteke didn’t go down like he had just been smashed by a hammer. Players nowadays are all cheats. Ours too. Wilf tries it on all the time. It’s why the game is changing so much. All this faking it gives the snowflake rulers the fodder to ruin the game. Most of us fans just likeRoy Harry Rednap and many more think it’s crazy. But it is what it is. Rules are rules and Trekkers had to walk. Bloody ridiculous situation. But at least it’s only one game. By the way, I never saw the second yellow. I just saw a straight red. Should the ref get fined?

All red cards with the exception of those for use of offensive or insulting or abusive language/gestures (S6) and receiving a second caution in a game (S7). For an appeal to be successful, you must prove that the referee made an obvious error in sending the player off. Even if we could have appealed it, there is no way they would have backed us ahead of the ref, so nothing lost really. The frustration is not just that this abject decision will remain unchallenged, but the ramifications of it for us. Not only were we denied the opportunity to go for all three points in a game we looked the more likely to win, and not only will we now be denied the services of a player who has (finally) found form, we will also have to face the best team in the land with our entire attacking set up thrown out of kilter when we have just found the right blend and balance going forward, and were building momentum. And where was VAR in all this? Sitting unused of course, as the geniuses at ifab and the Premier League have decided that whilst they can abuse the technology to robotically uphold their own nonsensical misinterpretation of the rules (Bamford offside, Ward handball etc), they won't correct or support refs who make awful, damaging decisions like this.

Similar with the sending off last night. Yes it was harsh but both bookings were identical. After the first he needed to be more careful and he wasn't

After the first he needed to be more careful and he wasn't I appreciate what you are saying, but if a player has been incorrectly booked once, they might reasonably go the other way and presume no sensible ref would do it twice. In any event, would any of us really have been on Benteke's side if he spent the rest of the game failing to contest high balls, or jumping like a pogo stick with his arms by his side, losing every header? Personally I'd rather he gets stuck in, battles with all he's got, and risks the odd card, even a red one.

I enjoyed your rant BTP. So true; soon the game will be like basketball or more likely netball; you mustn't even touch the person with the ball. When that happens, I'll stop watching. I can well see heading being outlawed. Indeed, I can well envisage the snowflakes saying, "the game is, after all, called FOOTball, not HEADball". Edited by doombear (17 Dec 2020 2.28pm)

With the exception of throw ins, the game looks like it would probably flow better if all outfield players had their arms removed. Is that too much to ask from people earning £50k a week?
