Sickening to loose, but unfortunate?

We has one attempt hitting the goal in 95 mins - one - Kouyates header!!

Good passing, but never dangerous, and when we get a tatget man in, we do not even try to feed him.

Our new central defence is really well, but will we manage more than 30 goals this season. I doubt.

Five goals in three games, two Zaha shots on target but hitting defenders, three shots from Eze all wide, nine wonderful balls into the danger area from Townsend and a very decent scoring opportunity for Kouyatee to get his second, Ayew played a brilliant ball across their box totally confusing all their defenders ..we had more great chances but that alone should've been enough to win that game considering their second was a total piss take.

Onwards and upwards

100% we look decent and it’s actually exciting watching us for the first time in a while.
Gutted Roy subbed Eze off when he did, thought he’d maybe swap Bats for Ayew who was pretty ineffective today.
That said he has a lot more experience than me, Everton tipped for top 4 us for relegation (by a lot of pundits) and I thought we were the better team. More positives than negatives today for me and imo if we continue playing like this then top 10 is definitely possible.

McCarthy too many wayward passes today, though i think he looked knackered from the 60th minute.
We did an excellent job breaking up Evertons play and most of that was down to the JM's.

We are playing with 4 players in our defence, that if the entire squad were fully fit, none of those 4 would be playing.

When Eze and wilf finally click instinctively, which they will, and when we have our preferred defense on the pitch, allowing Kouyate back in the middle, then we are going to be in for a thrilling ride me thinks.

Ayew was constantly crowded out today and unusual for him, lost possession alot.

Schlupp would've been good today too and Kouyate should keep doing what he's doing now way away from any midfield.

An encouraging display in many aspects and a draw would probably have been a fair result.
Neither keeper were very busy.
Zaha was well marked today and unable to have much of an impact which obviously curtails our attacking threat.
I like the look of Eze and felt we lost something when he went off.
I’d have liked us to try and put them under more pressure when Benteke and Bats were on the field together as we rarely played the ball into the box and instead passed it across the pitch.

Please keep Kouyate out of our midfield

Yes you can blame the ref. He could have decided, rightly, that Ward’s body shape was perfectly natural.

No, the ref has to follow the rules put in place by those above and that is what he did. Roy alluded to it in his interview - ‘even the ref knew it wasn’t a penalty’.

They flashed the rules up on Amazon at one point, even then I couldn’t see why the ref had to make that decision and if I remember rightly the commentator noted the same thing?

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I personally think that Calvert Lewins “handball” was more of a pen as he at least had the opportunity to get his hand out of the way. He did not do that and in fact used his arm close to his body to control where the ball went. I suppose we got one last week and it went against us this week. Shame as this week cost us a point whereas last week made no difference.

The worst thing is that VAR does not kill the game, but will change it completely.

When you attack and get into the opponents penanly area, you may still have 8 - 10 players between yourself and the goal.

At the same time you will have an opponent right in front of you, with his arms visible, so logic dictates that it does not makes sense to try to hit the goal, but it makes a lot of sense trying to hit an opponents arm.

That should be the aim of any team wanting to win.

Bizare, yes, but wrong??

That is a really good comment and our coaching staff should be reinforcing this point. The law makes no sense at the moment and VAR just gets worse.

A fair result would have been a draw. The penalty was ridiculous, but that is the new (and stupid) route they have decided to go. We made Everton look ordinary and given their outlay that is no mean feat. Eze looks like he was made for the PL, although he needs to improve his decision making, but that will come with game time. The two Jimmy's are like terriers tearing around nibbling at everything and that seemed to really disrupt Everton.

If we keep playing like this we will be a handful for anyone and I'm confident of another comfortable season. Chelsea just got very lucky so they will have be very motivated next weekend; hopefully we can make their season even more uncomfortable!

On talksport I heard someone mention his hand wasn't in a natural position, I screamed.

You can throw all the stats that you like at this, but we were undone by a very dodgy penalty decision. Whatever happened to the rule, ball to hand, rather than hand to ball? Wardy’s hand was down by his side.

You could see in his face that he was really distraught by that decision, gotta hand it to Wardy, he has been great in the first 3 games of this season...

Everton got lucky and didn’t deserve that win....
