Whilst I’m a critic of Hodgson’s style of play this season and his rigid methods, I have to acknowledge that to amass 33 points so far this season with minimal contribution from Zaha, Townsend, Benteke and Luka is an impressive achievement.
I have previously put their bad performances down to Hodgson’s methods, but just maybe they need to look at themselves and ask if they could be contributing more.

The league has been poor this season. Liverpool being 19 points clear says it all, let alone the ongoing VAR controversies, City alledgedly breaching finance guidelines, etc. I'd agree with you that some players don't appear to pull their weight, pinpointing that would help. My thoughts on Benteke are quite clear, but I'm surprised at Luka.

I feel the price had the effect of keeping him playing for us and in doing so keeping us up, interesting to see what happens between the coming season because age comes into the factor now meaning there will still be room to strengthen around him if he decides to stay with us, yesterday and in many other games showed to me that the players we have are very adequate of surviving this league for at least another two seasons, Benteke is getting himself into positions well and is also moving well to create openings for at least two really great opportunities in every game, composure then is his only stumbling block now.

by far our best showing of the season. Ayew was great but he did miss two sitters.

I was so pleased to see us press.

By far our best showing? Certainly one of our best. It's always a case of opinions, but I still reckon our display against Liverpool was probably our best despite losing in the last few minutes.

Generally a very pleasing game to watch and encouraging to see us playing positively and taking the game to the opposition - I assume Roy has been taking tips from posts on this forum.

At one stage in the first half I was worried it could turn out to be a repeat of the Sheff Utd game with us dominating but failing to score. What a relief when PvA scored that cracker.

However, it was quite tense in the latter part of the match with us only having the single goal advantage. We really should have buried that game early on, but, in the end, the one goal was enough and we took another step toward safety, and I was able to travel home with a smile on my face.

really big 'steady the ship' win yesterday.
IF we can beat Tesco bag boys next weekend we'll in theory only be 3 points off safety.
And what a change to see a proper home side attacking display at Selhurst
we may even beat somebody by more than 1 goal before seasons done!

WE have done it twice already (Norwich h and Burnley a)

Passing has let them down at crucial times this season nothing more then that coupled with failing to take advantage of scoring when really they should've this problem was mostly highlighted last season and I had hoped for an improvement from one of them at least lol.
The most important issue is the organisation in defending which has been excellent under Hodgson although appearing to go down the drain against Southampton and Everton recently everyone must take into consideration the quality of the goals they scored against us in order to actually beat our solid keeper.
Stability is the name of the game, that is what Hodgson does brilliantly wherever he goes, when he decides to go which I hope is not for at least another two seasons he will leave a strong foundation for the next victim to build on.

As I have said earlier, I was in the ground for the warm up, Wilf was holding his leg and had a long conversation with the doctor, maybe he had a slight niggle. This sort of thing would not have been seen unless in ground early (not criticism just pointing out a possible reason). Also he had 2-3 players around him everytime he got the ball, this is where we miss Schlupp who always seemed to be there to assist and had pace to draw away at least one defender

Loved how combative we were all over the park. We always seem to lose out in any tussle for the ball but yesterday we were ferocious. Bruce even remarked about how physical we were. More of the same against the weed please

In the distant past I have see Palace teams with no confidence and from early season on you could see we would get relegated. Yesterday after a disappointing transfer window and last couple of months it was reassuring to see that the lads had plenty of fight left.

Unless something goes really badly for us or really well for other teams that is not going to happen this season. Credit for that has to go to Roy and the players we may mess up in front of goal but there is good team spirit and fight in our squad.

Fair play!
It just feels short changed in the goal dept.
I'd guess our goals for is as bad as the bottom 3?

They stole the 3 points at St James after we dominated so it was nice to get a reward for our dominance yesterday

agree with you. We should have scored at least 3. As to goals for. Newcastle and we now share bottom place on 24 each! Hence my original prediction that I couldn't see Newcastle scoring and I thought we would so I went for 1-0.
