Thought we were truly awful for 70 minutes. Infact, we weren't even that good. Brighton played us off the park and should have been out of sight by the time Wilf came up with his bit of magic.

Yes, we had injuries, but I doubt we would have set up any differently even if we had had a full strength eleven.

Roy is doing what he is being asked to do - keep us in the Premiership. He is second to none at setting a team up to defend, but after 70 minutes we had zero shots on target to Brightons ten. They had 68% possession at that stage. I go to be entertained, so whilst some of you might be happy with the way we play, I for one am not.

credit to Zaha and Guaita. Also to the Subs who came on.

but what a shocking dip in form ?

from the team that we were just a little while ago ?

the intense Christmas fixture list does frighten me.

We need to go 442 , Tekkers and Ayew, wilf mc arther Luke Meyer and whoever is left standing in the back four.

Really need Max sitting behind the front two to give us some forward momentum. He made the difference tonight.

I'd like to see Reidewald sit in for Luka, give us some sort of base to start attacks from , a bit like Joe Allan and completely fancifully, Pirlo.

I hear Mamma Mia is in town? You could enjoy your prawn sandwich watching that instead?

Other than having Riedewald at left back it is difficult to accept injuries as an excuse for the performance.
It was experienced team with players in familiar positions.
We were totally outplayed and at the end I was really happy with the point.
Should this really be the limit of our aspirations?
We made Brighton look like Man City, which they clearly aren’t.
We could have taken the game to them from the outset,as we did in the last 15 minutes, and get at their defence.
It was noticeable that Benteke improved when we took the handbrake off and got players closer to him.
In terms of coaching attacking play it’s fair to say I’m not Hodgson’s biggest fan.

Townsend is clearly a big loss, we had no quality on the ball in midfield until Meyer came on.

Injuries to full backs is also crucial. The modern day full back gets forward - PVA and Schlupp certainly can and Ward can to an extent. Reidewald and Kelly can't do it, and this seriously hampers the rest of the team. We also have no quality goalscorer.

For me, with that make shift team we were always going to be under pressure. Brighton were better than I expected. I can't be too critical of the team after that. They showed grit to hang in the game and nick a point.

If we can get everyone fit and sign a Batshuayi type striker, we'll start scoring, like we did in the second half of last season. Roy is doing very well with the current squad limitations.

We got out of jail after a truly abject first 70 mins and in the circumstances I was happy with a point.

No shot on target in the first half and our first corner was around the 70 minute mark.

Perhaps a combination of Brighton getting tired and us having a real go with nothing to lose turned the game on it's head.It seemed that in the first half we we so worried about our makeshift defence being exposed that we were fearful of being more positive and risking attacks on the transition and we allowed Brighton all the possession in the world. When we did get the ball we never got forward effectively.

Well done to Zaha who once again, as at Burnley, showed he can go outside and fire home with his weaker left foot.As a team we dug in and showed character and such qualities will serve us well in the coming months.

Overall a hard watch for our supporters but another point which took us a place up the table.

This is one of the reasons why I did not renew my season ticket from last season, that and the distance to travel.

Hodgson's main objective is to secure survival and thus far he has done so with hardly spending anything in the transfer window. He has done a brilliant job in the circumstances.
The football is a hard watch but one could argue the ends justifies the means.

Given our predicament a point was a bonus last night but, despite our injuries, we simply did no get the basics right. Sky’s Jammie C showed a freeze frame where half our defence had their backs to a Brighton player and was leaving them acres of space on the flanks and between our lines.... even with a makeshift team... poor basics.

I also don’t get why Roy persist with Kouyate. His control is poor and contribute little in attacking terms. Why the does he not give Camarasa a run when, according to other contributors, he is the most creative mid-fielder in the club we have? If he warrants a seat on the bench why not...or get rid?

Finally I hope Roy gives ‘Bentechers’ a run now. He holds up well and offers a dimension we lack elsewhere and he will score...eventually!

We were dead lucky tonight and Brighton really deserved the 3 points. Their passing and movement was top draw and for me our thin squad is getting really shown up now..

Best player on the pitch was Trossard, he is real quality. That is the sort of player we should look at signing...

The irony of this is that Trossard is nothing other than a Meyer clone...which is why we should be playing him...Roy clearly doesn't think so. Put Meyer in their squad and he'd excel!
