Roy is really not the problem. He is setting the team up the only way he can with the players we have. We have an aging first 11 that are not being pushed by he rest of the squad. Last year Wilf was our main attacking threat and he has not been right this year. The problem is our short-term recruitment strategy which caught up with us this year. I really do not think our current squad is good enough this year and we will be lucky to survive. Luck has helped us so far. I am not just saying that because we lost a game I have been saying that since before the season started. Absolutely spot on. Our squad is piss poor. Our organised approach is all that’s keeping our heads above water.

So how do we become a threat in attack only when we go one down?

Our main problem is a lack of creativity, in all fairness we’ve had a lot less possession in the last few games but after the Liverpool game (as we’ll probably play defensively again) Meyer and/or Camarasa need to start

I missed the first 20 min, but what I saw of the 1st half was ok, we kept them at bay and kept possession quite nicely pinging it about and tried to go forward - 2nd half Chelsea upped from the start and caught us by surprise, no response and no more intent to go forward. total damp squib 2nd half but I think the roy bashing is all wrong, with these players we have to keep it tight, we'd get murdered being more expansive in most cases, and if wilf was thinking of moving to Chelsea he did himself no favours today, some of his recent performances have been quiet but he has been cutting out trying to take on a man when he should pass, not today, very poor.

I know he is not the answer (Benteke) But as mentioned we have a poor squad and have to work with the tools provided ! Would just mix it up a little and least give the opposition some kind of threat in the air .

Yes some of our players are aging but again comes down to Roy not willing to give youngsters and chance or other people. Not true we can play others ways this has been proven when other managers was in charge it may not be a complete overhaul but attacking wise we could do much better. Wilf should be dropped but he wont be. Originally posted by AERO
Yes I agree regarding tactics he is to closed minded on that subject and we are seeing his limitations we can only play this one way which was highlighted when he was at Liverpool which is why he lost the dressing room with even players leaking pictures with his same old negative tactics. Benteke has clearly fallen out of favor and really is such a waste the guy has proven he can do a job if used correctly which Roy has no intention of changing his style to suit this guy plus I agree with this as well why we don't bother with crosses is shocking really. We can play passing game no problem the issue is we are playing passing to just keep the ball which is pointless it should be going forward not this backwards stuff every time Big Sam showed we can do this he by far was best manager and Roy should of been using what he had put in place.

Sadly all too predictable. I suspect that some supporters have their doubts that he will keep us up. I asserted on HOL before the season started that we would be a hard watch and would send our supporters into slack-jawed somnolence and this is what is coming to pass.
