We have to give the youngsters a chance in pre-season to see how they have improved, particularly Rak-Sakyi, Phillips and O`Brien,

One of the negatives is that hopefully we have already earmarked targets and if we leave it too late in order to fully assess the youngsters someone else might have snapped them up

Yes, true, i think we need to see if O`Brien is good enough to be the 4th CD, and Phillips is good enough to battle with Hughes, Schlupp and Ahamada for the one place.

Don't know about anyone else, but, i wouldn't say no to getting Luke Ayling from Leeds as'n'when they go down. Good no nonsense RB that can & will fire crosses in when needed. Well, everyone says we need a new RB . . .

As you say he can whip a good cross over and you can’t argue with his commitment, but definitely not for me defensively, mistake ridden and he’s a massive part of why they’ve got the worst defence in the division, I’m sure we can do a lot better.

Not sure why people are putting players like Matheus Franca on the list he would never get a work permit to come to Palace even if they could agree a fee plus he has a release clause of 20 something million.

Only big clubs get away with it work permit wise.

A lot of the other names maybe but Palace like Prem experience and what about wages/agent fees let alone if those players would even be interested not sure they would.

How much money does the club have to spend the books show not much at all.

If Roy signs it gives SP an excuse to not spend again.

Hmmm, so in response:

A. 20 million is really not a lot of money these days for such a position. We paid 20mill for Ahahmada, a central midfielder who hasn't played much and attacking positions generally have higher prices than further back.

B. Prem experience comes at a premium, inflated valuations for the likes of Sarr etc, tbh you'd be looking at around 35mill for such players. There is value outside the Prem ad UK.

C. Brazilian players do see the European leagues as a way to develop their careers, most coming to Europe to play. Well established way of them transitioning.

D. The BBC amongst other media outlets have linked us with him

E. As for work permits. The old rules of having to have played in 30% of internationals are no longer in force. UK works o a points based system for footballers. Yes international appearances is part of that but, given his age he has played for Brazil at U16 and U20 level, still only 19 so that is taken into consideration. His predicted likely amount of playing time if purchased is considered. If Wilf leaves then there is a strong case the club can make that he is being purchased as a replacement for a first team regular and adds value to the team.

AND...Even if he does not get it on the points based system, the FA themselves say:

`If the player does not automatically meet these criteria, the club can request an FA Exceptions Panel consider the player’s experience and value in order to determine whether a Governing Body Endorsement should nevertheless be granted.`

Finally if that is not enough there is the process to appeal it all.

Luke Ayling's uncle is Ray Lewington.
Ayling will be 32 just after the start of the season, I don't envisage seeing him plying his trade for our club.

Does anyone disagree that if we only bring three players in, Buy or Loan, it has to be, Wilfs replacement, if he goes, a right back and most importantly for me a CF.

On the face of it Lanzo, you may not be far wrong. But, we need to know who we offload before restricting newcomers to just three. May require further bolstering.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I think that has pretty much been well established that those are the areas we need to improve. I think CM is in there too.

I would be pleased if we made 4 singings for those positions. We don't tend to make lots of signings in one widow these days

Yes Lanzo. Most importantly I would like to see a striker. One that can actually head the ball as well as take on defenders , not a donkey like Benteke a Calvert-Lewin type or a Ollie Watkins. some one who is willing to make the runs . But these are very far a few between and very expensive . Would love to see AWB back or even Timmy FM , and maybe Sarr , but not for the money Watford are looking for him . I think we are 3 decent signings away from a very good team next season if we can hang on to the guts of our starting younger first teamers .

He's a terrible defender. Worse than Alexander-Arnold, with nothing like his attacking ability

I think that's what we need even if Wilf stays, he's likely to pick up more an more injuries as time goes on so we are going to need some cover there. And he can always play through the middle.

CF is going to be the hardest to fill, there just aren't really many obvious choices. I quite like Viktor Gyokeres. But every player we can afford will be a bit of a gamble.

Whilst I rate Hughes, I'd still rather himself and Jeff were back ups. I'd feel much more comfortable with another quality CM in the team.
