Amos and Jeremiah were doom-mongerers, Elijah was quite upbeat for an OT prophet.

Theology is not my strong suit.

I recall some supporter bellowing out in my direction "You are a F...G Elijah of doom" when I proffered the opinion that we would slip through the relegation trapdoor and my negativity on HOL has been the subject of a degree of opprobrium.

We are currently averaging 1.04 pts per game which, if maintained, will see us with 39 pts at the end.

Of those below us, and if maintaining their current average, will finish with:

Leeds 36
Everton 36
Brentford 35
Newcastle 35
Burnley 30
Watford 29
Norwich 26

grounds for cautious optimism ?

The trouble is that over the last six games in Jan/Feb we have averaged only 0.5 points per game, if this trend were to continue then we would struggle to get to 32/33 total points at the season end. We must win games against the teams below us starting with Watford on Wednesday and followed by Burnley on Saturday. The trouble with winning is you have to score and there is our difficulty!

Olise certainly puts in great corners and free kicks as well as in play crossing. Big problem is that we can’t win anything in the air with this present team. I never feel confident when we get a free kick or corner that we are going to score. Our best chances earlier in the season was when we were getting Gallagher and Macca into the opponents box with quick short ground passes. This doesn’t seem to happen anymore?

They haven't played together since November

What makes anyone think we'll get points against Watford or Burnley? We couldn't beat dire Norwich or Brentford teams. It will be lucky if we get draws against Watford and Burnley.

We're at the point where we have to hope for as many draws as we can manage, and also for there to be 3 worse teams than us the rest of the way. I can't see where we're getting 3 points against anyone the way we've been playing.

On the flip side with a little good fortune and better finishing we could have easily have beaten both Liverpool and Chelsea. Hopefully our fortunes are due to turn. This week would be a handy place to start!

Unfortunately the glass half empty brigade will not shut up about the possibility of relegation until we are mathematically safe which in my opinion we should have moved on from by now. Its a small club mentality.
We should have faith and belief in our team from the position we are currently in. IF we were in say, Everton's position then sure, every reason to get twitchy but we are not. I'm first to accept (results wise) we are going through a lean patch but the performances are there. We will get a win again soon and the seeds of optimism will grow again. PV has done an incredible job. If just two of the many many draws we have had this season had been instead a deserved win we would be comfortably in mid table.
Then again I guess the glass half empty brigade would then be moaning that they are bored!

I am struggling to picture you guzzling alcoholic fluid. Seems so unWilloish.

Half a shandy after the golf, a dubonais and lemonade to toast the queen's birthday and a sweet sherry at Christmas.

It would appear that you view me as an urbane gentleman maintaining comportment on all occasions.
I have been known to be in a state of advanced refreshment, too enthusiastic on the jungle juice but only on rare occasions and not for some while!

Massive 3 points for us tonight with Burnley winning again. The battle for the last relegation spot is going to be epic and it won’t be including us.

It’s comical, we are 4 points off Brighton yet Potter gets classed as a genius and Viera a dunce.

Up the Palace.
