Zaha hasn't wanted to be here all season. The ship has sailed and the team are fed up with the moping. If you watch any of the matches the team have had enough and it is clear through the fact they pass him the ball and say do something then without really supporting him (as he is arrogant about his ability). He is an exciting player but his attitude and temperament have been poor this season (I get the fact that getting tackled so often must be infuriating but if there are 3 players around you that means there are two players free somewhere just find the pass and move). The way he has acted has harmed the team spirit which is what made us tough to play against and defeat. The difference between a world class player and a good player is vision. I am also very much of the belief that if he wasn't Zaha he would have been benched by Roy. Wilf can beat four men then will fluff the cross or misplace a pass hence why larger European clubs really haven't materialised any interest with a firm offer. It is sadly time for him to go, he will always be one of our own and a legend at the club (personally my favourite palace player I have ever had the pleasure to see). There is no point having someone at your club that doesn't want to be there and it is visible through their performances. I remember when Punch went off the boil and was dropped for three or four games and came back on fire, we have never done this to Wilf which has led to him losing his hunger, what makes this worse is the facet that he is probably the first name on the team sheet every week. I just hope he is ready to be benched for substandard performances and for increased scrutiny elsewhere owing to a sizable transfer fee. If he does go good luck Wilf and thank you for everything. Should have been sold end of last year at full value and replaced with Sarr or Saint Maximin and we would have still had plenty of change. Now I don’t think anyone will pay more than £30-£40m for him and we will need every bit of that just to get the centre forward we require. I honestly don’t think we would have replaced or even got these players over the line if we had sold Zaha. We have seen it in the past so many times, every transfer window.Reports that this player is going to sign that player is going to sign only to find out the the club how cooled their interest and are looking at other cheaper alternatives. Then right at the last minute it’s rush rush back to the past interested players squeezing in a rush job medical, personal details only to find we didn’t get the deal over the line, just to save a few pence it’s always the same story.

Seems to be the first summer where there's clear intentions from both sides to sell. Only problem is finding a buyer (who's willing to match our value- I imagine we've lowered that considerably since last season) after what was a pretty poor season for Wilf. As I've said before the best scenario imo is to find a club open to exchanges. Then we'll instantly fill needs and not be sitting on what I'd assume to be a well published transfer fee that other clubs would then hold us to ransom over knowing that we got 30m,40m,50m etc for Wilf. If Chelsea became interested I'd enquire a swap for Bats + C.Gallagher etc. We'll see what happens...I just hope it's sorted early but as always I expect it to drag on the whole window.

What price would we accept and what is the most anyone will pay, 25million?
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Has he put in a new transfer request or does the old one still stand?

The worry for me is if, as seems likely, Zaha is still with us next season, what sort of attitude will he have and will the manager, be it Hodgson or someone else, be brave enough to drop him.

More than any other reason that is why he should go. He has had a whole season to get over himself he is not for turning it seems.

The assumption that money received from Wilf's sale will fund new player(s) is rather dodgy isn't it?
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |
