Ayew is starting to become a bit of a cheat too. He always has the hard done by face on him. He rolls around pretending to be in agony and takes dives. This is rampant I know but the false dives and injuries are just too much in the game. The art of subtlety, if you're unable to fool the ref no matter how good a player you are no big club is going to even notice you.

Some of you need help. Did you really expect to win that game? We lost 4nil to 4 of the best goals you will see in a single game all season. Sakho hadn’t played since god knows when, Townsend the same. Zaha injured early. And playing the BEST team in club football. True. I think it's better to wait a few hours before posting. Views vacillate from totally ridiculous over-optimism to doom-laden pessimism, from match to match. Something I'm guilty of as well. I think we got carried away with the win at Bournemouth.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

I think that's a bit of a harsh criticism of Sakho. There's a lack of movement in our midfield which makes it much harder to find a player to pass to. Liverpool's work rate, movement and speed is incredible. If he's not got someone to pass too then he's going to get closed down. When we last beat liverpool at Anfield, didnt threw first goal come from Liverpool pressing our centre backs, failing to win possession which lead to a break where we got in behind their defence and scored?

Well that was painful to watch :-( As brilliant as Liverpool were, we were absolutely dreadful. Played far to deep and what is normally our strongest part, our midfield didn’t compete? Ayew didn’t get a look in as our lone striker but like everyone else when he did get the ball he gave it straight away. Townsend was perhaps the worst of them all. How we kept it down to 4 I don’t know. We literally rolled over last night which was an unusual thing to see from us. No one played well. Yes, Liverpool’s goals were good but Ayew making the foul for the first was unnecessary. Not closing them down so that they could fire a thunderbolt was also terrible. As for the record of not having a touch in there half showed how bad we were. I was at Anfield for the 9.0 defeat many years ago and we played much better that night than yesterday. It should have been the same score last night, we got away with it thankfully. Let’s hope it was down to the missing players and that we perform in our next match as we did in the first half at Bournemouth. Last night was embarrassing. Moan over, let’s move on :-) I ran a Football school for kids in the early 90'ies. Bruce Grobbelaar was our main coach and he was the Liverpool keeper in that 0-9 game. He told me Palace was one of the bravest teams coming to Anfield that season, but very naive in their approach.

Eddie you have a lovely turn of phrase, mostly abusive. I don't think talking sense counts as abusive.

I take it all back. I now see that Roy's cunning plan was to make sure Liverpool won the league before all the pubs re openned

Regarding the stat about Palace not having a touch in Liverpool's penalty area someone has sent a picture on WhatsApp showing Townsend touching the ball in their area. Anyone else seen it or is it a fake ?

Perhaps the photograph related to our previous game at Liverpool when we were defeated 4-3 and Townsend scored.

Bravely predicted Willo! Don't read too much into Wednesday night. The team went up in 20 MPVs, got dropped off, played, and then were straight back down the motorway in said convoy. Normally, they stay in a hotel in order to arrive fresh. Absolutely no chance was taken with injury or suspension, which gives an indication of where the club placed this game as a priority. It was like a league cup game. And we are safely mid-table with little to play for. Thus, hardly surprising the players appeared jaded and unenthused. That said, our best team arriving fully motivated, match-ready and with something at stake would have given Liverpool a sterner test; but would still have lost as that perfomance was peerless. Fingers crossed for Guita, Zaha and Benteke for Monday. That game does mean something.
