Take a listen to his post match interviews. You keep talking about overseas but this is a series in England, and I'll take the opinion of people like Harbajhan over your's. You also keep referring to the last Ashes series which was an abomination for all involved and massively alters his bowling average. His averages in India indicate that he should be picked for the Sri Lanka tour. Thank you E.W.Swanton!

Ok Stuk.....I will keep my fingers crossed that's he is chosen as the lead spinner for that series and we will make a judgement on the wisdom of this after the series based on his series averages. I fully expect we will both be on the site to account for these opinions.

Cook has announced he's doing a Vardy. Has had some fantastic innings in his time but also quite a lot of truly s*** ones. Probably time.

I have been looking at Cookie's history since debut in 2006. Aggers says there may not be another and looking at it in the round, you do wonder. Can you, for example think of any English batsmen, who with the game lost, could bat for a day and a half at Perth to deny Australia victory? Cook was born to captain his country and his platform test cricket.

With Ashwin a good reference once more.

If he was unburdened by the captaincy who knows how much better his, already outstanding, career and statistics would have been?

Cook was born to captain his country and his platform test cricket. I'd be surprised if there's another. Compare his record to the only 5 batsmen above him in the total runs. None of them opened the batting in tests for more than a handful of matches, if at all, while Cook has hardly ever batted anywhere but an opener.

Ashwin's test record is 327 wickets at 25.59 Form in temporary.....statistics are permanent. I'm going to have fun reminding you during this tour when we see Ali being ineffective on non English wickets.

A good reference for the match/series, not their careers. You can only compare like for like. I've never said he's had a better test career than Ashwin. I know Ashwin's is clearly better, making this like for like performance more impressive. Thank you for acknowledging it. You said he's a failed test match player, and he's not. A man of the match award, since you posted that statement already proves you wrong, but you're too stubborn, if not stupid, to argue otherwise.

Ali is as useless overseas as your cricketing judgement is here. I predict, if selected to tour, he'll have another poor winter.
