He hadn't answered my point. But,I have been dodging the point, you are right. You are entitled to your opinions. However,I find your views and those of Hrolf on this general topic akin to a pile of one week old discarded leftovers.Point made.

It seems to me that, all protestations to the contrary aside, underneath it all both of you have demonstrated classic traits of prejudice towards people of differing ethnicities, be they Asian and W/Indian immigration who came in the 50's-70's or more recent immigration from Europe.

You have your views. You are both entitled to them.To me,they resonate of stale pond water.

What's worrying is that 'liberals' are being castigated left right and centre, being told they are the cause of the rise in xenophobia.

Well,of course to people like that, who foam at the mouth so readily, everything is always the fault of "the liberals" or "the left"...probably even our defence and the onset 45 years ago of the switch to decimal currency...

Being p1ssed off with an over-the-top pc society is fair enough, but excusing and enabling the far right because of it is an arena for those who are already not very well disposed to those of a different colour. All very noxious.

A fine text book example of shutting down a debate.

Selective reading, making stuff up, straw man arguments, leading questions, unfounded accusations, faux outrage, name calling. It's all there.

Classic.

I don't know about that but when nationalism is a dirty word I can see why people that way inclined will just opt for outright racism. You also got Trump and Brexit with Blair coming soon.

"There are a lot of non white faces on the ITV news, at least on the night before I wrote this post. People in some parts of the country must think they have tuned on to a foreign channel by mistake."

Various comments, and the above and emphasis on how foreign it may appear to people as well a unprompted outrage at the fact that you are facing criticism despite being 'born here' was the biggest load of racist tosh I've had the misfortune to read in a long time.

If you fixate on the racial demographics of news stories on one given night in a way that borders on worrying and bizarre, don't expect some kind of back patting parade. Most people regardless of political or racial hue just tend to watch news stories, not think about how unlike and foreign people on there appear to be based on the colour of their skin.

I also like how I'm accused of bringing a 'racial' slant into it, when you babbled on about race in your opening post and about ten after that before I even said anything. If you think you can make racially inflammatory statements then get to talk down to someone nonwhite when they comment on it and 'tell them' how they should view this you have another thing coming.

I was talking about the ITV news giving the impression that there are far more non white people in the country than there actually are regionally.
What are you talking about?

You deliberately ask me a leading question then ignore all my responses in order to pursue your agenda.

I'll just let people read the thread and decide for themselves.

Hardly anyone reads newspapers anymore.

Just reveals what a total idiot you are. Any decrease in print readership has been balanced out by the increase of newspaper's website increase. A change in format does not equate to a decline.

You've already decided that you're not talking the reporters or anchors of the news and instead the news items you saw on this particular night. It's a bizarre point because the news covered largely depends on what has happened in the country that day. The other week it was all about Trump and the US election. Am I to get outraged that there is some kind of conspiracy or agenda to make the news about orange people that week?

I actually took the time to watch the ITV news earlier to see what horrors would be presented to me. I barely saw one non white person on there. I don't see that as some kind of anti minority conspiracy to make it seem like asian or black people aren't present in society, it's just based on the events of the day. If you're fixating on non whites and making these odd 'born here' and 'foreign' statements about fellow brits then expect people to comment on that. If you don't like the hue or presentation of what you see then change the channel. Nobody is forcing you to watch it.

Yes people indeed will read this and make up their own minds. I am more than happy with that believe me.

More straw man nonsense.

I never used the phrase "born here" or said that anyone was actually "foreign" or that I liked or didn't like anyone.
You need to learn to read properly.
